If personal Loot was confirmed

I will be using my controller while watching football in the tv, ill follow other players from a safe distance and just let them do all the work . Then simply pick the items…Amazing gameplay

If you want personal loot? Then go play D3, it’s got it! Quit trying to dumb down D2! Why do some people keep wanting to make D2 into D3?!

  1. Botters and pickit cheats will not get the vast majority of good items
  2. More good drops for legitimate players
  3. Less toxicity
  4. Better immersion
  5. No more ninja looters
  6. More equitable loot distribution (melee vs ranged, differential ping, etc…)

Right now one powerful player can carry a party. In that regard nothing would change.

What would change is some claim that they run a service to help level other players. The implied contract of that service is all good drops go to the strong character and the weaker characters are left with xp and table scraps. This would change. Power levelers would have their good loot monopoly divided, helping the lower level characters get xp and gear.

Oh, we can’t have that can we :blush:

Would change it for the better that’s a given, just make it an option before creating a game and we cool.

Make it so loot pool is same size as FFA but shared, and also only between people who tagged the mob (or are close).

A lot of people have different ideas of what personal loot even is. Some think all the way to D3/WoW personal loot where nobody else even sees what drops for you. It’s entirely individual and would change the total amount of loot dropped.

I don’t think that would ever happen in D2:R just because it requires a lot more effort and change on the devs part to redo the entire loot system.

Instead, I think it’s more likely we could get an optional loot allocation system similar to Path of Exile’s where everyone sees all the same loot, the loot dropping isn’t changed at all, but some of it is allocated to specific players so only they can pick it up.

Then the question is, how exactly does the loot allocation work? Limited range? What is that range? Limited duration? What duration? What items are included in the allocation (potions/scrolls etc would likely not be)?

The problems with loot allocation if it’s too wide a range and permanent would be that many people would have loot allocated to them that they never even notice, so other players would walk by the locked loot and not be able to pick it up even though the person it’s intended for has no idea it even exists. This wouldn’t be an issue on Baal, but would be an issue out in the world when you’re all moving around.

Having loot allocation automatically end if the player moves too far from the loot would be another option as well.

Having a loot filter that let us show desirable loot on the map would also make it less likely that people miss loot.

Overall, a PoE style loot allocation system that you could turn on at game creation would be easier to implement than re-doing the entire loot system from scratch and not be as big of a change. It would also be optional. If you didn’t want to play in games with that feature, they could let you easily filter those games out of your game list in the lobby.

doubtful, monster density is no comparison for the sheer increase in exp that monsters give in act 4-5. Tomb raiding is something we do now because we are limited to act 1 and 2.

Miimum the first quest rewards should be personal for each player.

I must agree with you on this. I was surprised on what some people suggested. I am very happy with the way D3 handles personal loot. It’s simple and clean. No one know what you got unless you decide to show it off or drop it. It gives the player the power to choose and helps avoid toxicity. If you are a generous person at heart, it also encourages you to be generous. I you found an item that you don’t need you can share it with someone who can use it.

I think some kind of change will happen, perhaps not right away. In my opinion the game needs more time before release, and it has bigger task that need tending to before they touch on this game mechanic. I feel like VV is under a lot of pressure to meet their deadlines.

Good effort it always required to produce quality products or experiences. If they are willing to make these changes, I hope they invest the time and effort to create a good fit for this game, because currently, in my opinion, the shared loot system is really bad for many players.

This is the dream, but I consider this the icing on the cake.

This is not really a problem with most modern games, and you yourself alluded to a solution via filters. A simpler more quick and temporary solution before having loot filters would be to color code all drops. I think there is too much screen clutter with useless gear. I am not sure how to handle this issue though.

I agree with this. Its an option and allows people to play they want to play. No one gets hurt.

  1. There are no bots in game right now AND if you can’t pick up loot from under a bot during bot runs then you are a noob.
  2. Good legit players don’t need hand holding bullsh1t like private loot.
  3. You can tie toxicity to anything if you try hard enough, get over it.
  4. Disagreed, it won’t be Diablo 2 so immersion is instantly broken.
  5. Ninja looters? You mean just looters?
  6. Equity is bullsh1t go get your booster.

Go back to playing Diablo 3 or just wait for D4 and enjoy that pile of “New game mechanics” that solve all the problems of a 20 year old classic that people still play… lol Diablo 3 community must be jealous.

Yeah, it’d encourage MP. They should really make MP more attractive. Otherwise, I’ll just solo farm and then quit from boredom.

Not a solution to the crappy FAA system.

Go back to playing D2, if they make a optional instanced loot system if it perturbs you so much. I doubt they will remove FFA loot out right anyways, so be happy that is very likely never going away even if optional instanced loot comes. If i had a dollar for every time, nostalgia tinted glasses told me go back to D3 or D4. I could quit my day job and just post on this forums for a living lol.

I assume you mean that there are no bots right now in the D2R beta in public games that you know about.

If you are saying that there are no bots in D2/D2::LoD on battlenet currently, you are quite mistaken.

If you think that you can pick up loot quicker on average than a bot/pickit user, you are mistaken.

First, you should read some of my posts about gearing up. In a personal loot game, it is actually harder to gear up than FFA games when all players are legitimate.

Secondly, you should read about what the “No True Scotsman” logical fallacy is. For your edification, it is linked below:
No true Scotsman - Wikipedia

Yes; however, there is no doubt that FFA promotes MORE toxicity than personal loot.

I mean ninja looters. Even the lead producer of D2R said that term.

“Be mindful of ninja looters,” said Matthew Cederquist, the game’s producer.
‘Diablo II: Resurrected’ aspires to iterate on perfection - The Washington Post

So you want inequity. Noted.
