Identifying consumables.... why?

For some time I have been wondering what exactly is the purpose of identifying consumables, i.e. ramaladni’s gift and hellforge embers. These arent on a roll range and it seems arbitrary to make them legendary - which I understand is the reason we have to identify them anyway. I would love to see these be able to stack in inventory as common goods or something, and do away with the need to identify. This would also get rid of the 2-hour trade window that prevents stacking.

Thoughts?

Heck yeah let’s do it.

Narrator - They didn’t

A small QoL improvement, so sure.

Or, maybe, they can just add more types to make getting one more interesting and less obvious what one has found.

Identifying anything… why?

I think that you hit the primary reason they are setup the way they are.

If you were playing with friends that needed one, you could drop it for them.

That is helpful earlier on in the season when not everyone may get several right away.

I remember a few seasons where I didn’t even see one till I had reached well over 500-600 Paragon and was doing T16 already.

Just a thought.

Wonder if you were around BEFORE the book of Cain got added and then BEFORE that when we had to identify YELLOW items… lol

I remember those days. Identifying an entire inventory of yellow items, one by one.

Let’s just take a moment and be thankful for the fact we can identify everything at once instead of things one by one.

That we don’t have to carry around any identify scrolls or any of that crap

I was. All we wanted was an “identify all” button and they delayed it to make a stupid book.

Yeah big thanks for tying a little boulder to our feet instead of a big one  .

It’s a staple of this genre. It’s there to make that dopamine zone light up. For consumables, it’s dumb, but that’s why it’s a thing.

Never really thought about it, but you’re right. Seems stupid.

There were more consumables in the past. Very specific ones found in specific regions.
Meant for crafting.
That idea got discarded rather quickly.

Rama gift has been the only consumable for a long time. Now in s25 we have embers too for the season.

Right, I think this season reminds us how dumb it is to have to do something like ID something which has only one predetermined purpose that never changes

I am at the point I can recognize about 95% of items by sight without needing to identify. I DE my inventory without identifying all the time when I am speed running.

Really speeds things up.

You know, I low key kind of liked id scrolls…

And blue scrolls for that matter lol

Yeah, but wouldn’t you first have to ID the scrolls to know what they did? A sort of perpetual looping catch-22.

no, because that never happened.

.

you.

The above was not written in the sarcasm font. It used Unicode8.
