So this one is kinda simple, what if for the first hour played each day on the server players receive more Xp. After that, Xp gains are made a little bit lower than what it is now.
I don’t know exactly how much Xp difference their should be, that would need to be tested, however the principle behind this is mostly sound.
Diablo 3 was designed to be played in ‘short bursts’ according to the developers and this supports that philosophy.
I already suggested it in my thread and its getting bombed by all the no lifers, botters and cheaters out there, seriously don’t botter making any anti botting threads at all, it will save you a lot of nerves.
It’s pretty clear that if you don’t play with bots and cheaters you won’t get any far in D3 RoS, so yeah just stop, cause no matter what you or anyone propose it will always be bad…
Orrrrrrrr you can learn to mind your own business, and not stick your nose where it don’t belong because it doesn’t affect you in the slightest. And your ideas were just as as the OP’s.
It’s a video game, meant to be fun. Grow up and get over yourself.
No matter what is suggested it will ALWAYS be BAD for you. The only way to check if someone is botting would be if the game itself had an encoded algorithm that monitors the amount of time spent on completing rifts, greater rifts or bounites and the amount of experience gained per day.
If a bot runs each rift for 2m-3m for more than 8h-12h straight without any breaks a day the in game written algorithm would just prevent you from creating any game at all by giving you an error of some kind when trying to create a game for the rest of the day or BAN you for 7 days each time.
Same thing with bounties, if you run bounties for more than 8h a day 10-15 minutes per full Act 1-5 runs, you get the same error or BAN.
Serioulsy WHO RUNS BOUNTIES OR RIFTS, GRIFT for more than 8h?! I mean 8h of straight bounty farming or 8h WITHOUT a single break of 2-3 minutes rifts or greater rifts, clearly not a normal person.
If you don’t get it than no matter what idea anyone comes up it will always be bad or punishing legit players and if you have a better idea than PLEASE SHARE it other than bashing others for trying to fix the current state of game.
Fully agree , they are a bunch of incompetent , greedy and lazy people, look at the non season EU solo crusader top 5 spots, even my cat can recognize those losers and Blizzard do nothing they are letting them bot 24h24, we will never buy a title from these people anymore, they cant maintain the integrity of their games, so we will punish them to not buy anymore stuff from Blizzard, we ask proper periodical bans from 2 FKING YEARS in EU non season and nothing happen, they are incompetent people. Adios Blizzard.
I don’t need to know what would fix it to recognise that what you suggested wouldn’t fix it.
I realise that since these are new forums, and they’re the US forums, you wouldn’t be aware of the year or more of posts / threads I contributed to on the EU forums about detection of bots, account sharers and requests directly to the EU Community Manager asking for the EULA to be enforced and some serious BanHammer™ to be wielded.
So, yeah, your suggestion that I’m some sort of sympathiser is just 180 degrees away from being right.
Such a system is EXPENSIVE to make and maintain, which may need more people than all current D3 devs. However, it is easy to cheat against - what if bots take an hour break every 4~5 hours?
The only time bots really bother me is in bounties because they’re not contributing to it most times. I’ve gotten on leaderboards playing semi casually. 118DH, 135/3 130/2 139/4. Could probably go a bit higher than that with only a little over 2000 Paragon. I don’t know how bots work but I’m sure they’re not letting a bot try to do 150s in groups either. I don’t think Paragon levels directly affect someone getting top 10 solo either it comes down more to skill and knowledge especially since there’s definitely lower Paragon players in the top 10. Get your own goals done and don’t worry about what cheaters are doing…
Like others have said, punishing players just to slightly inconvenience botters isn’t really the solution. Even if they’re still gaining 1% EXP after the initial hour, that’s still an eventual 23% more they’d be getting over everyone else. Shifting the number to 2 or 4 hours doesn’t change that, either. Same if you start affecting loot.
Unfortunately, there are older hurdles that some players rail against like highly variable encrypted captchas because every couple hours or so they might have to pause for 30s to do what’s requested. Given D3’s repetitious nature, there are a good number of trigger points that can be used to set off the checks, otherwise. Things like repeatedly creating games in short periods, opening rifts, and greater rifts. Pass and you’re clear for a good 4 or more hours depending on when RNG decides to check again. Fail and you’re disconnected, have authenticator cookies cleared, and your account flagged, with multiple flags (that drop off over long periods) resulting in lengthening suspensions and an eventual ban. In the event you choose not to use an authenticator, you’d also be checked more frequently.
Beyond that, I imagine the game would have to be built from the ground up with a highly variable memory allocation system and a good handshake system between the servers to affirm they’re not being hijacked and read. Outright changing mapping when entering a new game would also likely help to minimize the ability to crack the code. We briefly had botting hampered a bit back because Blizz did change the mapping a bit, but the problem here seems to be they just did it once and that was that.
That said, people do play long sessions. The obvious problem is the consecutive nature that leads to the whole, “If it looks like a bot, acts like a bot, it’s probably a bot…” going on that vexes a number of us with nothing happening to them. We’ve all heard the tired line about sharing with a family member. I’m less inclined to believe competitive players are actually sharing between multiple either, as that obviously risks progress getting destroyed if they have a falling out. Things like actions per minute could be tracked to see if maybe someone occasionally takes a bathroom break or whatever, as should be happening when legitimate play is happening. Tracking bots like this was something I personally did back in the day when I worked on MU*s, with the added benefit of being able to precisely see what commands they input with in-built security options. When people learned you’d catch them, they’d either stop or quit altogether. It just needs to be known that big brother IS watching here, and NOT tolerating for half a year or more.
I could really care less what others do…I’m not going to waste money on a program to play a game for me…I enjoy playing Diablo it’s a game…either way if say a couple of friends share an account and get labeled as a bot and get banned they could probably even sue blizzard for removing their game license if they were mislabeled as cheaters… either way it’s a game… I’ve gotten my money worth out of free to play no subscription game and don’t care what others do…
Sounds like you think bot software makes its impact mainly by individual players. This is wrong. There are workshops using bots to sell finished bounties - they finish it by themselves, invite buyers, and drop the loot. Banned accounts are just a running cost to them, so unless you ban accounts in real time (which is not practical and need HUGE efforts), it doesn’t matter much.
