ID all legs or risk loosing a primal => Primordal Ashe

PC Diablo III

To reiterate, when towning in always ID your legs.

Problem: if you just salvage you legs, any primals you salvage w/.o ID do not count in the Primordal Ashe amount.

I thought I was mistaken after doing this once and not seeing my Pri Ashes move above 100.

So I did it again and sure enough, you have to ID a primal then salvage it for your Primordal Ashes to rise higher.

Interesting. I haven’t encountered this bug myself since I always ID all loot before salvaging, even if I can already see everything is going to be salvaged anyway. It’s a habit.

I’ve seen an earlier bug report made by someone that they didn’t get Ashes but Souls instead when salvaging a primal. Didn’t mention whether it was ID’ or not though. This could explain it. If someone could be willing to salvage an un-ID’ primal, we’d get some answers.

That is exactly what I got… souls, but no Ashes both times I didn’t ID the primal.

People dont mass ID things before they salvage?

WTF…

If a player is looking for an upgrade or helping someone out in the party they will ID every thing.

Not a big deal.

Anyway I mass salvaged everything 'cause I’ve maxxed out my build for most part.

That is how I found the bug where you only get souls no ashes with no ID.

With the exception of rings, most items can be recognized by their inventory icons alone without IDing them and if a player needs none of them, it’s little faster to skip the ID process and just directly salvage them.

It’s rare though for me at least to not have at least one potential item per inventory, and if you’re gonna ID one item you might as well do them all.

Not disagreeing and as I said, I always do the mass ID myself out of habit.

However once you’re fully geared with well rolled ancients, finding upgrades becomes almost non-existent so salvaging all without IDing saves little time. There eventually comes a point where IDing becomes redundant.

Guess they thought no one would just salvage an un-ID’d Primal. lol

At least for me, upgrades are a continual process. With my strict ruleset for Solo this season, I have been slowly upgrading gear, as I can’t roll any slots on any pieces.

Nor can I upgrade rares, or re-roll legendaries, etc. Not even crafting any items, which means I don’t get to use some items for the follower or my build.

Been challenging to say the least, but the upgrades are fairly often, even if small.

You have to hope your item drops with the right rolls, as you can’t fix them. lol

Have a look at my torture.

Well, sure, at the point where you have perfect gear. Doubt there are many that reach that point in a season though, or even overall.

i think you found the red flag

I usually ID everything, but sometimes I do short period of really fast runs to get upgrades to low level gems etc. Then I salvage after 2 runs everything I know I don’t need, and after 6-10 runs I do full cleanup.
Saves probably totally about 1-2 minutes per season (of moving and waiting time) since I never do that for longer period  . But maybe someone efficiency-oriented does this longer time and can save 5% of his playtime optimizing this.

Previous Season I did a test on salvaging ID’d and non-ID’d Legendary items.
I was examining closely whether I was getting 1 Forgotten Soul or 3 Forgotten Souls.
After 5 inventory full, I concluded non-ID’d will always salvage for 1, even if it would be a ancient. But this thread is interesting too.

Strange… I’m certain that I’ve seen salvaging an un-ID’d ancient giving 3??

PS. Just did it. Salvaged an un-id’d sword. And the screen said: Salvaging Shard of Hate gave you Forgotten Soul x3

I guess I was unlucky. But it is good to know I don’t necessarily have to identify the items.

Just did, both an identified and an unidentified. Got Ashes in both cases.
