cheers to all,
I have some curiosity about this engine of this game, and i try to understand logical some things. For instances:
1.I have nemesis bracer equipped in my gear. Why in greater rift when open a rune, always spawn same Elite monster. In normal nephalem rift when open a rune, is not the same elite monster like in greater rift.Is a bug or something?
2.Why sometime in normal nephalem rift, drop chance item are much better like in greater rift?Sometime in nephalem rift T16 drop item are much better than in greater rift lvl 110…T16 is equivalent with level 75.
3.why some primal ancient item are worse than ancient item?I mean i have an primal ancient gloves item with only 3 primary skill, and another ancient gloves with 4 primary skills and are much better. In my opionion primal ancient item is supposed to be much better than ancient…and sometime is not…is not always
4.I don t understand why i must wait 30 seconds when complete a normal nephalem rift before is automatically closed?I mean,ok i understand to wait 30 second in PARTY,but when i’m alone why i must wait 30 second before nephalem is closed/?is not ok and is very boring in my opinion…
5.why u can insert gem ONLY in rings and amulet?U can have a total of 3 gems in gear, and sometime i need 4 gem or maybe 5 why not,to survive in higher rift…nevermind
6.why u can’t salvage all legendary item with one click like rare, magical and normal item?Sometime is very annoying to stay to check one by one even on legendary item.In 90% of the case are trash anyway even if are legendary item…And sometime in PARTY when u play a greater rift lvl 130-140,when complete a rift, teammates never wait to salvage all item and open fast another rift and so on…i don t know if u understand what i try to say…
7.why when u start a greater rift and open game to public, nobody can’t join in rift until u complete the rift.?Why u must finish alone first?
8.it would be nice if it was present one more nephalem obelisk present and i explain why.Sometime when u start a greater rift alone, and 3 people join in party, until u finish greater rift, they can open a second normal nephalem rift for more fun…
There would be a few more question but…i forgot them for the moment
thanks in advance,
Probably a old bug. It used to be like this in normal rifts too, then it got fixed, but aparently not in GRs.
RNG.
Every item in D3, with very few exceptions, always drop with 4 primary afixes and 2 secondary. It’s impossible for a item to drop with only 3 primary afixes like you describe. You’re making some kind of mistake there regarding these numbers. Sockets count as primary afixes btw.
Also, Primals aren’t necessarily better than Ancients. Primals are merely an Ancient item with maxed out stats.
That’s just a design choice. One could say that it is this way so you can go back inside and get stuff you’ve left there.
Design choice for balancing reasons. You never need 4 or 5 gems to survive because you can’t have 4 or 5.
Probably to try and avoid a scenario where you salvage something you didn’t want to salvage.
Most of these questions are not really about game’s engine or code but its mechanics though. What is this? A field poll for upcoming surge of “questions” that repeat each other?
System memorizes what gives you a challenge and tries to tweak it around. If you struggled when a type of monster possessing a certain elite ability, then system will try to improve on this model. While no one has direct information towards that since we don’t have any source code, that’s the best hypothesis we got.
I don’t know, maybe because they’re randomly rolled? Maybe because you get to see more Ancients than Primals, given their rarity and that has to do with it on the verge of possibilities?
They’re designed with team collaboration in mind. Nephalem Rift closure timer giving you enough time for packing it all up then finish. This is to give players time when someone speed farms really fast in a group then kills the Guardian in an instant, or collect anything they might have missed at the last second.
Same reason as why you can not equip ten rings total instead of one for each hand.
Legendary Gems require many different variables to be checked or synchronized, so each gem actually create more calculation traffic between client and server.
PTR server of previous season, the Soul Stones, was infamous for its legendary gems acting like socketable gems. When player got pre-made upgraded legendary gems from the PTR vendor, that allowed players to socket 10 legendary gems at once on their armor pieces. The result was PTR server being unplayable due immense lag for a while until that bug is hotfixed. I know there are people who act like server resources are infinite, but they simply aren’t.
That causes more problems than it solves. Notice a confirmation box each time you salvage a legendary item? Despite process repeated for each individual salvage, people end up smelting Primals then complain over social media and here on forums non-stop. Now, imagine a one-click legendary item salvage button to be added into the game and how much of a chaos there would be afterwards.
Why do you open game to public as you are about to create a Greater Rift? Can’t you just not do that and await for a full team instead? To add, this again has to do with server willing to carry burden of only one GR sequence per game session at a time. Greater Rift and Nephalem Rift randomization procedure are mildly different than outer world, so perhaps that has to do with it.
naksiloth,do u read and understand english? In party is ok to wait 30 seconds before rift automatically closed, but why i must wait 30 second if IM ALONE and play ALONE without any players? In my oppinion if u play ALONE nephalem rift should automatically closed after killing BOSS,without wait 30 seconds. Is just my oppinion
Yes he does he also knows how to spell and form a coherent comment.
The game has been out for 10 years your (our) “opinion” does not matter.
In your opinion, but my opinion is different than yours and others just because we are different !
Because having two separate timers would be more trouble than it’s worth.
another dillema for me, for instances:
-why pool of reflection is never present in greater rift ??
thats what i say: to add ability to close a nephalem normal rift like when u finish a greater rift. When u finish a greater rift u can closed in just 1 second. In SOLO mode is very annoying to wait 30 second before rift closed.I run nephalem rift JUST for greater rift keystone, and i don t want to wait 30 second fot each rift…because i want to farm very fast ONLY gr keystone…
RNG. Sometimes it’s the same as a high GR, sometimes it is worse than level 75 GR.
bad game design
because they would have to write more lines of code with party and solo being different closing procedures.
They have trouble balancing the game with what they have, putting legendary gems in another 7-8 slots would probably melt their servers like adding 1 stash tab would.
Because people would get lazy and accidentally salvage a useful Primal. We would then have dozens of threads on “I accidentally salvage a Primal, how do I get it back?”
Because everyone needs a GR key to enter, and this would be an easy way to get around doing regular rifts.
It’s just a game OP. Just play it and quit trying to analyze every aspect. Sometimes things are what they are. And a game, is just a game.
Just think how some will react with D4 when we are all trying to figure things out. After seeing all the “why” “why” "why’ I thought my 13 year old granddaughter was on the forum.

Probably related to a limited pool of elite types, though they likely get different affixes. For example, if the map can have 2-3 types of elites, the odds of getting the same one over again is pretty good, especially if the map is seeded so its not actually random at all.
-
GRs have no drop chance, for one. You get everything you’re going to get when the Guardian is defeated. In a NR, everything has a chance and the “item find” check is performed on everything that can produce an item, or multiple items, so it is possible to get more items in a NR than a GR but… the GR is more efficient because you get 12 guarantees and hopefully in under 2-3 minutes whereas a NR can take much longer and there are no give-me’s at all.
-
nature of randomly determined affixes. Just because the affixes rolled are maxed, it does not mean you’re guaranteed to get the good ones for the item.
-
internal cooldown. Generally people trash items they picked up or gamble while the counter ticks down.
-
avoidance of power creep. If you “need” more legendary gems, you’re probably not playing the best way possible.
-
mainly to prevent an onslaught of customer demands for rollbacks due to “accidentally” deleting an item they actually wanted to keep. given the number of items per “run” is generally low, and there is a maximum inventory allocation, manually salvaging a few items now and again just means there’s a stopgap. Plus, it slows down botters by a few ms.
-
no idea about public games since I refuse to play them or join them. But, my guess is it was not opened correctly… that is, the rift was opened before the game was made public.
-
OK… not really a question and no, I disagree. It would be too easy to continually hop between GRs and NRs since, by the time you exit the GR, the NR timer is down. There needs to be some sort of “delay” in the game mechanisms if only to provide an alleviation from the manslaughter addiction.
i play the best way possible.i have The shadow mantle set gear and i have the best 3 gems socketed: bane of the trapped lvl 132,bane of the powerfull lvl 111,pain enhancer lvl 133…and sometime i need 4th gem like Gogok of Swiftness or gem of eficacious toxin for more survability in gr lvl 110 or more.I have maxed all ancient and few primal ancient at Kanai cube with 625 dexterity each…I know is not the maxed dexterity. The maxed dexterity is 750 but u must have gem LVL 150,so u must finish gr lvl 150,but lvl 125 with 625 dext is enough,In solo mode i can play lvl 110 but no more…I think the 4th gem aid a lot and make the difference…in my case
In Path of Exile u can have a multitude linked item and benefit aura from them.Is more fun that s why people played a lot that game.
Regarding to the point 3.
If you look at the weapon of theses characters :
- https://eu.diablo3.blizzard.com/fr-fr/profile/olimathu-2790/hero/142958878
You can see that the first one has 5 primary skills (including the socket but excluding +625 dext) and the second one has 6 primary skills.
The cause is that one of the primary skill is +10% CDR that is added to +50% CDR (==> 50% * 1.10 = 55% CDR) by default of the Yang weapon .
The moment you kill the boss and talk to Orek, Nephalem Rift starts a countdown for you to pack everything you forgot inside the rift. That’s the purpose. You can dump your bloodshards or salvage everything for material at the mean time; solo or group.
When you finish the Nephalem Rift , you can have some bloodshards left over on the dungeon floor and may want go back to town and gamble abit. Once you’re done, you just talk to Orek, hop back into the town portal and collect them. It’s convenient and easy to understand.
Even on Greater Rifts, closure is not really instant. You can’t close the successfully finished Greater Rift without getting your reward from Urshi first. Since there’s no Urshi or a timer to determine whether you were successful or not, in Nephalem Rifts, developers added a delay of sorts for you to hop back and forth in case you forgot something at the last minute.
Game design. It supposed to make the punishment of losing Reflection Pools on death somewhat consistent. So you’d be forced to explore the sanctuary all around to replenish it.
You usually solve that by grinding more or tweaking around your skill and gear choices to optimize it. If you want to bite more than you can chew on low paragon levels, at once then anyone would advise you to be on the look for defensive options.
Replace some key equipment with higher toughness offering ones and optimize your equipment properly. However, damage loss usually not worth it and hard to figure out which skill combination you should be opt for covering that properly.
Right approach is keep grinding at lower tier Greater Rifts bit by bit for a long time to gain more paragons. This way, you’d ought to scale the tier up way slower than usual but you will be able to overcome the challenge by diminishing some of the bad randomization through stat growth.
in my opinion pool of reflection it s a BLESSING especially for player with higher pragon level.I saw this week a player with lvl 19191.For that player i think is crucial that pool of reflection with 25% extra exp level.Although is become boring to finish a greater rift level 140 for example and before talk to Urshi to start search pool of reflection in bounty mode before close the rift…is only my opinion.
For player with low level paragon is not an issue, but for player with higher paragon i think is becoming “MUST BE” that pool of reflection.Nevermind is just my ideea…
ok thanks,
Don’t call people out when you clearly are the one struggling to make a proper sentence.
Then go play POE. No one still here cares about that game.
I found that question incredibly ironic.
dude if u don t like this topic why are u here ,and posting here?Go somewhere else.We don’t miss you ,especialy me,trust me.
Please avoid this topic,im not talking with you !!!
In this topic i speak only with high IQ people not with 10 years old kids !!!
