Example of True Scotsman Logical Fallacy
I am a true diablo fan; however, D2 is not a perfect game as illustrated by the widespread popularity of modded D2. The simple fact is that many diablo 2 fans play modded diablo 2 as these modded version correct many deficiencies that they perceive in current diablo 2. Your are making a logical fallacy often referred to as “True Scotsman”.
Freedom of Choice where Multiple Options are Better than One
Your next logical fallacy is that providing an additional choice does not remove an option.
You claim to be a true diablo fan? Do you mean D2 or D2:LoD? They were different. One was presumably better than the other. Only one can be “perfect”. Is it ok that D2R offers both? Your logic dictates that D2R is providing an option to “inpure” non-true D2 fans.
Moreover, D2 and D2:Lod had multiple patches. Which patch is perfect? Are you claiming that patch 1.14d is the perfect patch?
D2R differs the opportunity to play an update version of D2 and/or D2:LoD. Since there are “true diablo fans” that prefer D2 and there are “true diablo fans” who prefer “D2R”, what gives you the right to claim that someone who does not view that D2 is better than D2:LoD or vice versa is not a true fan.
What Many Desire
It is an undeniable fact that among D2 diehard fans who have already pre-purchased D2R AND posted on the the D2R forum that many want D2R to be:
- Largely a carbon copy of D2
OR - Improved through providing additional updates )balance changes and loot options)
This is divisive. The best solution is to have Blizzard have separate options where players can choose to play 1 and/or 2. You want a carbon copy, then you have your game. Players that want additional improvements have their game. When Burger King started selling the impossible burger, it did not remove the whopper from its member and did not change he taste of the whopper. To claim that selling that whopper at BK ruined the BK experience is complete and utter hogwash.
Misunderstanding and Mischaracterization of a Game Mechanic to Make a Strawman Argument
This is not how personal loot works. Simply check out PoE where each multiplayer party has the option to select one of 3 loot options. You will see that your concept of how personal loot and global work are not what you claim.
A global loot game multiplayer game has X total drops and Y players. The same personal loot game also has X total drops, but not each player receives X/Y drops. The total drops remain constant. You claim that it you be 8X more in an 8 player game. Simply put, you are mistaken in how personal loot works.
See PoE to understand.
How does loot work in parties? :: Path of Exile General …
Path of Exile. All Discussions … Free for all, same as in d2, loot drops, who ever gets it first it is his. Timed loot. Loot will drop for a random person, and for that few sec only that person can get it. … Yes the party leader decides so make sure you are the party leader when running your own map and set it to permanent and you will be fine
The reality of D2:REsurrected and Additional Updates including Balance Changes
