More decent people will beg, or find part time jobs. The people with actual worth will not start families until they are financially secure.

It’s not always that simple for everyone. Yes, some will beg. That doesn’t always equate the same for each person. When I say “desperation”, I mean it in the most intense way.

As for part time jobs, that too can be a challenge. Like when some people tell homeless people to “just go get a job”. Without a home, some may not have a way to reliably tell time to ensure they get there when they can or wash a uniform/clothes/themselves. They may not have means to have someone watch any children they have. They could have been someone who is so ill, they can’t work but the system failed and won’t let them be disable, etc. So many caveats to that.

That’s why I maintain… I hope nobody who feels that way ever has to be in that situation.

I don’t know what part of the world you’re living in, but here in Nevada, a good 80% of the facilities I visit are looking for minimum wage grunt hires. You don’t need to own a house, just rent any apartment and start from there. And finally, DON’T start a family unless you are financially stable. Don’t BE the animals popping out 7 kids while living off welfare checks. I see them at my place of work. They don’t treat their children well. None of them deserves their own lives, much less the companionship of a spouse, or the joy of parenthood.

I live quite a ways from you. I cannot speak for where you live. I just know around here, jobs are extremely scarce. Even fast food places are replacing real people with machines and kiosks because of the increases in minimum wage.

I also know people who were in good spots, but something happened. My mother’s best friend since high school is this lady, normal person living with a husband and 2 kids. Out of the blue, she gets a heart attack. Forgot if she’s got like 1 or 2 bypass. Her daughter was in the middle of college then, and her son just graduating high school, so it’s a lot of costs.

Guess what? Because she had a reasonably-sized family and previous savings, her heart attack didn’t even make a dent in her family. That’s, again, called being reasonable. Being excellent. You’re not in a good spot if your family collapses the moment you’re out of commission for a while, dude. That’s called just getting by, and being under massive pressure every single day.

Every person’s situation is different. Everyone’s expenses are different, even those living within their means. There are so many variables to these situations. Yes, there are going to be people in poverty and it was their own fault. There are also plenty where it wasn’t there fault.
