I don’t want to be a fat Druid

Speaking purely logically, it would be more difficult to believe a short skinny guy could turn into a giant werebear. I suppose they could have made him have more of a build resembling a7ft basketballer which would make more sense with both the werewolf and werebear.

How can you apply logic to this? It is magic. So the Wizard or the Sorcerer needs to be 30 feet tall to turn into a dragon?

I imagine in some fiction, the writer will attempt to have a thesis that considers the size and weight of the animal transformation relative to the size of the person. Faith Hunter books talk about this some. I guess if the setting is Urban fantasy, I can see trying to fit magic into some rule set that does not break the laws of physics too far.

But Epic Fantasy is not as hooked on those types of rules. As far as I know there are no rules governing original caster mass vs what they are turning into in the Diablo Universe.

Yes that makes perfect sense. However, the author is basing their appraisal on appearances which is logic based not magic based.

True. Just like a humanoid D2 wanderer became a huge Red Dragon-alike humanoid. :+1:

It would make sense in a magical system that shapeshifting is governed by very different rules than transmutations or illusions. Also in Epic Fantasy.

In any case, I dont see it as if the druid needs a lot of body weight to become a bear. I see it more like being in bear form means you get more intertwined with the aspect of the bear spirit, taking on features of the spirit, which over time results in a weight gain

As for the topic.
How not to become a fat druid:

  1. Exercise more, eat less
  2. Dont join any Celtic cults

If you follow just one of those steps, you should be relatively safe.
