Hello All. Is there a way to keep hatred up? with the GoD DH I’m running I have to stop every so often and either use Hungering Arrow - Serrated Arrow to restore hatred or Preparation/Punishment to do the same thing. Most times it’s both but the point is I’m completely stopping to restore Hatred. Also I use health globes to restore hatred. I’m probably using the build in the wrong way but it is fun until I have to stop. Thanks for any help.
Seethe on vengence works for me.
Where are you playing where this happens? When doing higher gr’s, you shouldn’t have any resource issues. Enemies last long enough to keep it refreshed. When doing T16 or lower rifts, switch out dawn to cube and equip the offhand and Yangs Recurve instead. The multishot bow, this will solve any hatred issues you’ll encounter…
For content where you kill things too fast (can be T16 or lower GRs), you want to run with Vengeance - Seethe instead of Dark Heart (you shouldn’t need the extra toughness for lower content). If that’s still not enough, you can consider using Yang’s Recurve as well.
Damhippy - it happens no matter where I play, Grifts, nrifts, bounties… I’m always having to stop to replenish Hatred. I’ll try some of the other suggestions here maybe it’s just a matter of switching out a few things. Currently I am straining to do a GR 96, and that’s only if I get a favorable rift. I can’t do a GR 97 as I type this, it just takes too long, I go over the time limit. It takes about 12 minutes to do a GR 95. Just fyi. Thanks for the help, I’ll try out these suggestions.
You need to use your Hungering Arrow skill more, use it every second. If you cannot for some reason, equip Yang’s Recurve. Other ways to get hatred back:
- Vengeance: Seeth
- Preparation: Punishment
- Companion: Bat Companion
- Marked for Death: Mortal Enemy (nobody uses this)
- Blood Vengeance Passive
- Night Stalker Passive
More ways to manage hatred:
- Cindercoat w/ Rocket Storm rune
- Pride’s Fall helm
- Topaz in Helm
- etc.
Good luck
Are you firing Hungering Arrow manually? If you have monsters to hit, and you are firing HA manually about once/sec, then you should be able to keep hatred up. You should not be running out of hatred on a 12 min GR.
If you still have problems, catch a couple minute vid of your game play and we can point out ways to help improve.
GoD set needs frequent manual generator not only for Hatred but for the Momentum stacks and Clarity defense as well. Oh and Focus, too.
this
and this
I hold down right click for strafe and then left click every second or so (or more in combat) and it’s never an issue.
On T16 where stuff dies so fast and so far away, I use Seethe and Preparation-Punishment…Seethe gets me most of hatred back, only need to pop Prep if in a long stretch of no mobs (like some Act IV or a big open map like Highlands).
If you aren’t firing HA often, you’re probably losing momentum stacks which slows you down dramatically, meaning you’re spending more hatred to move shorter distances, then stop to refill, lose momentum not firing HA and you’re in a vicious circle…
Couple other things if you don’t mind my poking in your profile -
- Swap to Devouring Arrow so you can get the damage scaling from HA - another likely reason you are struggling at 95+ (get better at above and you won’t need the extra hatred from Serrated).
- Captain Crimson is nice, but you are missing a massive damage multiplier from the Hunter’s Wrath belt (up to 200%). You really don’t need CC3 with GoD (though Iria has shown it will be pretty sweet in S22 when you can cube Depth Diggers and the belt).
- Level up a Taeguk and replace the Bane of the Powerful…you get damage and defense with it. BotP is ok when levelling or before you get Taeguk. But should be using Taeguk, Simplicity Strength, and Bane of the Trapped (swap to Stricken for higher GR pusing).
- Boots - roll of the strafe (it’s not the damage dealer in the build - HA is) for Armor
- Valla’s - farm a new one - you rolled Disc which is great for UE, but not super important for GoD, should have rolled the Strafe damage for CDR or AD
- Dawn - keep hunting for 65% and roll AD or CDR…attack speed rolls when dual wielding are cut in half (so your 10% on it is really only 5%)
- Helm - you want Crit Chance but you rolled the secondary so you really need a new one.
- Rings - missing Crit Chance and Crit Damage.
At 1k paragon where you are, your damage should be much higher, but all the missing CHC (helm and rings is 18% alone) and CHD (100 combined on rings) is gimping you along with your passive choices as well (none of them are the “standard” for GoD).
feel free to add me in game (PMG#1510) and I’ll be happy to try and help…
Thanks for the help everyone, wow, this is a lot to digest! I’ll check into it tonight when I have time to play. I do not mind if anyone pokes around my profile, feel free. I’ll be the first to admit most of the time I don’t know what I’m doing, so I probably re-roll the wrong things on gear, etc. But I’m trying to learn and the game is still fun, so I’ll keep going. Thanks again.
One thing I’ll do is fire off Hungering Arrow more, usually I wait until I’m almost out of Hatred or the stacks of momentum are gone then “reload” to get the stacks of momentum up to 20. I’ll change that and fire off HA more often. That really slows things down, but that is working as intended right? I was using Seethe and didn’t realize it, it’s been awhile since I’ve changed any skills or passives.
gg
This is another reason you are struggling - each momentum stack is giving you a damage multiplier - 10x per stack, so at 20 you get 200% but if you drop to 5 stacks it’s only 25%…pretty massive loss of damage.
Ideally though a rift you want to be at 18-20 stacks at all times possible.
A small tip: bind HA to keyboard (e.g. “1”) rather than left mouse button. Then you don’t need to stop strafing and click “shift+LMB”.
Just hold the RMB down all the time; press “1” every one second.
If you have a mouse with side buttons, another option is to bind strafe to the button below your thumb, and hungering arrow to right click. So all you have to do is to hold your strafe button, and right click like every second.
Still fits a “lazy” playstile.
Another thing to note, the lower your momentum stacks, the lower your movement speed boost is, so it might look like it would slow you down, when it fact it will speed you up.
As others have written : use Vengeance - Seethe rune. If you need the toughness, get a Yangs Recurve bow when doing rifts/bounties. But you would need to use the belt on your character and Dawn in cube for that.
Personally, I would not run with Crimsons set. I would use the full GoD set, get the belt on your character, and use the legs that buffs primary skills in cube.
Get the ring Elusive ring for more toughness in cube.
Strafe is technically not the skill that does the damage, so you would not need to run balistics in your passives. It is the hungering Arrow skill fired from Strafe that deals the damage. And since it/you uses the Cold rune on that, roll Cold elemental percentage damage. That would be on Bracers / amulet.
If you use the Yangs bow, you pair it up with the quiver as well. So you might need to collect that if you don’t got it.
This is HIGHLY recommended, cause it makes it a whole lot easier.
I only run 2 1handed weapons when pushing/doing grifts either in groups or solo.
When doing rifts/bounties it’s much easier running with Yangs.
Then you wouldn’t need Preparation either and could swap that out with fan of knives / the rune that gives armor. More toughness if you need it.
And btw. you would not need to roll max disc on anything when playing God Dh.
This is bad advice. If you’re not using Hunter’s Wrath on your character, it needs to be in the cube. Depth Diggers only gives a 100% boost whereas Hunter’s Wrath gives you 200%.
I read it as he was recommending GoD6 with Hunters Wrath worn and Depth Diggers cubed. Seems to be what you are saying also.
Ehm, did you read at all? That was literally what I wrote, I just didn’t remember the names of the equipment.
I wrote and suggested = don’t use Crimson set. Use the full GoD set WITH the belt ( hunters wrath ) AND use the legs = depth digger.
I wrote down all the suggestions and am going to give it a try. One thing I forgot to mention, I run pretty much 100% solo. So far this season I have not played in any groups at all.
Some of the responses in this thread take into consideration group play, which is different than solo play. I do not play in groups, my internet connection isn’t the best and it occasionally just takes a dump for no reason that I can find. I’ve lost GR keystones due to this in the past and don’t want to subject others to that, so I play solo. Just fyi.
Thanks again for all the suggestions, I really appreciate it !
Running out of hatred on the GoD-build is primarily a problem if you kill monsters fast, and use Dark Heart on Venegance. Swith to Seethe when doing T16. I would probably stick to Seethe up until GR100-ish, possibly more, depending on your survivability without Dark Heart.
I bind HA to left mouse and strafe to right mouse. Then I bind force stop to space bar. So I hold both mouse buttons down, and when I want to shoot HA, I just hold down my space bar. Let it go, and I am strafing, hold it down and I am shooting Hungering Arrow.
Another option is to use Yang’s. That lowers the cost of Strafe so much that you never run out of hatred. I use Yangs/Quiver and cube Dawn. But then, i also use the crimson set and cube Hunters Wrath. I miss out on Depth Diggers, but I never run out of hatred and am pretty much unkillable. This can do up to GR105 before you need more damage.
