How to Make Shrouded Moors Rift Map Better

Everyone has played it. Everyone I have talked to hates it. It is one of the largest maps in the game and has by far and away the lowest monster density of any rift map. On a full clear, you are going to get around 55% progression which is pathetic for a map this large. Currently, there are 2 ways to deal with this map:

  1. Save, exit, and start a new game or
  2. run as fast as you can fumbling your way along the edge of the map trying to find the way out.

I started this thread hoping to find some solutions that the Dev’s could implement to make this map better or at the very least tolerable. At this point, I have found 4 solutions that would make it better:

  1. Remove it from the normal rift map rotation.
  2. Properly populate the map so it is more in line with all the rest of the maps.
  3. Make all shrines/healing wells on this map only always spawn as pools.
  4. Let this map have a 100% chance to have a goblin pack, have an much increased chance of spawning a double goblin pack, and have a chance to spawn a triple goblin pack (chance rate equal to the other maps spawning a single pack).

1/2 directly addresses the problem, while 3/4 leave the density bad, but make it more a fun unique map that might tempt people to explore it.

Would love to hear some other ideas or improvements on mine. Let’s come up with something that will make the Dev’s finally address this.

Have it be the only map where backtracking allows respawning.

This one. If it had really good mob density, this map would be excellent.

Either show me where the exit is or remove it. Since they wont fix it removing it would be the easiest.

or just make the map smaller

Either making it smaller or has insane monster density.

I don’t mind removing it as well from Rift map pooil.

They could just increase the density by 3-4 times and throw in far more elite packs and goblin pack spawn chance and make the map 3x rarer so when you see it you actually get excited

just…play… the level? theres nothing wrong with it.

OP is right. The map is annoying. It’s frustrating because it is (IMO) a beautiful map on an aesthetic level. But the mob density is awful. Honestly don’t mind so much if I’m just dicking around, but some days I’m trying to farm fast or something, and coming on this map is like tripping and faceplanting while out for a run.

There are huge swathes of the map where there are literally no mobs what-so-ever. It’s incredibly sparsely populated. Any map that’s so empty that it’s better for progress to just run through it than play it is bad design.

Every single person I have played with hates this level, often to the point of remaking the game if this is the first map in a normal rift. By comparison the GR variant is alright, I think the issue is the map is broken into 3 large round sections, each with a small connecting path and what must have happened is they made the density correct for one of those round sections but in reality its divided by 3 so you are only getting a third of the monsters and it is extremely obvious to even the most casual of players

All maps should have insane density. What is it about this that they don’t understand.

Surely there should be monsters in the maps right? Holy cow level batman - populate the friggin maps!

If its the first map I get, I leave the game and start a new one. Much faster to clear… blizz just needs to add more mobs in it to make it worthwhile.

Shrouded Moors rift map desperately needs more density. That’s pretty the only problem with it. As already stated, if it’s better to skip entire map than play it, it’s bad design.

Some say it’s also somewhat hard to navigate. Seriously? This is something I find hard to believe. I personally find it very easy and straightforward to navigate.

Yes terrible design, hard to find an elite to proc ingeom, it’s an insta skip or restart game when i enter. I really hope blizz will do something for once with this map, because the issue has been brought up before and many many hate it.

This.

I wouldn‘t mind if it had the density of Eternal Woods or Greyhollow Island.

The GR variant is better, but sometimes also lacking density.

The Nephalem rift version is OK. There are often numerous chests, those armor piles, and some puddles. Sure, it is not great for speed but its not bad for getting some loot. I don’t necessarily want to hang around and collect everything but I usually stumble across 4-5 chests and get 3-6 legendary items for it.

The GR version is basically a straight run to get out though.

just play the maps its offered to you. unless getting that map literally causes you to fail the nephalem rift, or the greater rift, theres no issue. in fact, the NR verison is actually pretty chill. its a welcome change of pace. its not just monster slaying, you know? theres treasures too.

expecting every NR to have high monster density in all the maps is a bit silly, as some NR’s have to be basically chill. for GR’s. its already done. even the shrounded moors have a lot of monsters, so theres literally no issue.

Time wasted running through a mostly empty map in order to find the 2nd level is time that could be better spent exiting the rift, exiting and re-entering the game, and running a non-empty rift. If your objective is to maximise the number of GR keys you get for time spent, a map where you get almost no progress is a waste of time. It’s possible to 100% complete a Nephalem Rift in the time it takes to get to level 2 of this empty map.

an NR is a chill rift. theres no time requirement. not everything is quite so rushy, you know? just chill for a bit. and smoke something.
