How many crucibles to make a properly rolled item?

I am up to 31 on a weapon. So far my season has been riddled with horrible RNG. Heck, I am still wearing a yellow amulet at paragon 805 as I haven’t found anything truly better (typing that out even seems hard to believe). I have had four drops worth anything and the rest has been barely good enough to use or just salvaged.

This has been my worst season start to date.

Thanks for the update.

I would not know I have not seen any. You have 31 and complaining. :person_facepalming:

As Meteorblade once said, I too think helms are much easier to get decent rolls with the Crucible power. You don’t have to have that power on very specific slots. You just have to see what works best for you.

This question reminded me of a very old commercial…

Boy: “Hey mister owl, How many licks to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Tootsie Pop”?
Owl: "Let’s find out… one, two, three… “CRUNCH”
Owl: “Three!”

I know it’s random, but it also is kinda the point. Maybe the OP isn’t clear on RNG. It could be on the first try or the 100th.

I guess you can get your answer with simple math….

So you get guaranteed main stat and guaranteed high damage roll.
1/3 chance you get the power you want.
Then what are the hidden chances of getting one of the two affixes you want when you Id the weapon. Id say pretty good - as an estimate let’s say 1/4 for a harder roll like %dmg or cooldown.
So 1/3 x 1/4 = 1/12
I think you have a 1/12 chance of getting a weapon with the right power, dmg, mainstat, and one stat you want to keep so you can roll the other one.
Probably double the chance if you are looking for vit.

High weapon damage? Tbh, not sure about that.
Socket? Currently no but it’s easy to add
Int (or % Dmg at high paragon)? Yes.
Area Damage? Initially no, but I changed resource cost reduction to AD
Life per kill? Yes.

I need one of three properties and then out of nine options, I need two out of three preferred to roll so I could roll the strength off.

I haven’t seen this happen. I did finally get a usable one on try 35.

Each option isn’t weighted equal is the hard thing to factor in.

only took me a few but once I get a decent ancient weapon I’m going to use a sanctified dust on a quiver which could take dozens to roll perfectly since quivers are notorious for rolling horribly due to a lot of stats.

Why do you want to roll the strength off?

Also I think it would be a good idea to craft an amulet and upgrade in the cube just to use one on it since it will most likely be better than the yellow amulet and they are good options to sanctify anyway. But maybe ask someone else if that is correct.

It’s like day 3 of the season. Chill a little.

What happens to Sanctified items at end of season?

They are removed.

I played for a good chunk of the weekend and found a dozen. I sanctified 2 items. The first, it took 5 crucibles to get the right ability. The second, I got first try.

If they decide to keep this mechanic and add more, there should be some kind of way to control the outcome. Maybe put the weapon, the crucible and a certain color gem into the cube?

It takes all of them. Until you stop using them.

That’s WAY too easy.

Perhaps. I played tonight and got 3 puzzle rings in a few hours. One dropped from an ancient vault.

Still fun stuff.

You roll the strength off as you can make that up with Paragon. I finally upgraded an amulet and used it, a little better but not much.

I am up to 60 crucibles used now and still crap rolls.

OK thought it was that. But don’t you only do that way later? Isn’t it better to rather keep the one with main stat on and rather replace it entirely with one that you roll it off when you get closer to the level it is necessary instead of being in the 800-wherever range?
