How Left 4 Dead ruined an ENTIRE gauntlet of games, SAVE D4

The day is November 17, 2008, Left 4 Dead just came out and was a resounding success and beloved by all (not me).

It set the stage with four main characters… THIS DOOMED games from this day on out and made Diablo 3 a four player game. Diablo is meant to be shared with WAY more then four people. Please DAMN Left 4 dead and free yourselves (game developors) from the shackles of Left 4 dead’s precedent. Make Diablo 4 an Eight player family game again.

I don’t believe that this is the reason behind four player games. More like up to 4 players for consoles was standard.

Just googled Diablo 4 world boss figths… they are eight-player battles

Apart from that, I enjoy solo play most of the time.

  1. That’s far less what i know of.

The world lies shrouded in darkness.
The winds die…
The seas rage…
The earth decays…
But the people believe in a prophecy, patiently waiting for its fulfillment.
‘When darkness veils the world, four Warriors of Light shall come.’
After a long journey four young warriors did at last appear…
…and in the hand each was holding a crystal.

What? Good one. 4 players is convenient for console couch co-op, that’s why both games had chosen this. For Diablo 3, those glitter and visual effects are not something easy to render with this engine, so this was another impact for limitation.
Developers just showcased bossfight raids with 25 players and 8 player team PvP in Diablo 4 development updates about months ago. Your worries are obsolete.

Left 4 Diablo would be a fun mod. Odds of bluz Foxing it? 100%

I recall playing both Golden Eye and Mario Kart with 4 players maximum 25 years ago.

I guess the Nintendo 64 just doesn’t exist in this guy’s world.

Whoa, there, dude probably wasn’t even born when that came out.

As an outsider/layman I can only guess it’s a combination of “World Builder 3.0”(?) CPU bottleneck + the fact that it’s never easy to tell your prestigious art team & tech wizards to “do it again w/ fewer polys/actors/VFX” that 8-player D3 didn’t pan out. It’s probably as much a technical limitation w/ players having freedom to kite hordes of mobs & cause potential meltdowns etc. as it was a countermeasure against “too much clutter” which I always thoght was a pretty weak excuse, I mean don’t join full games if clutter is an issue, and maybe some people like getting lost in that sort of chaos anyway. After all no one with a penchant for mayhem thinks 4 players max is superior to 8.

I was like 9 years old when the Nintendo Power strategy guide came out for FF. After playing it over-and-over, I found a few mistakes/typos. Good times.

You guys remember Hellgate London? Coop Diablo shooter by Mister Roper & friends. The beta for that was amazing. Too bad they lost funding & got picked up by a cut rate publisher. Thats where the phrase “super awesome” was born lol. That was a great idea before its time. I bet they could destroy that now (in good way).

No i really don’t… but it sounds awesome like Diablo.

One of the few games I played when I took a WoW and D3 break. It was the only game that I will ever play on Steam (Valve). I hate their UI. Too much nonsense to play a game.

It was a lot of fun to play solo and on multiplayer, but where solo took that favorable spot was at the end when you have to run to the check point. On multiplayer, you can miss it even if you were the first person there. Yeah, was bs. That happened too many times, so I stopped playing that game and played the hell out of Dragon Age before I retuned to WoW and D3.

Please be nice to me

Are you trying to imply that L4D was the first ever 4-player coop game?

Lol. Lmao, even.

I’m pretty sure the game you’re looking for is actually just Gauntlet.

Which came out before Diablo 1 did.
