Whenever you enter a game from the launcher, provided you haven’t opted out of leaving general chat, you are automatically put into a random general chat.
To find out what number the general chat channel you’re in is, you have to leave or enter general chat via the commands or by selecting leave/join general via the option at the top left of the chat (That cogwheel icon):
Type /leave 1 or /leave general
/join General
Left Chat: 1. General #29124
Joining Chat: [1. General #29124]
So the chat number in this case would be #29124.
When you exit to the launcher and enter the game again, you are put into a new random chat with a different number
Using any of the manual chat commands (/join /channel /chan) in conjunction with #29124 will result in one of these two error messages
- invalid channel name
or - not a valid chat recipient message.
How do you manually join #29124 after entering the game again from the launcher?
I also want to know how exactly to send a message to a player using the @ command as you can in WOW. FYI the @ message player thing is battle.net general command and has nothing to do with the game you’re in and you can use this to send direct messages to people regardless of what game they’re currently in but they don’t have to be in a game to use the @ message feature as long as bnet is open you can do it.
