How do i play with other people?!

I was a die hard d2 player for years. I’ve tried multiple times to get into D3 and never was able to… I’m trying again and after paying for reaper ($29.99) and installing everything there is no option to join public games? When I go to the main menu to join a game I can create my own public campaign, that’s it. HOW DO I PLAY WITH THE PUBLIC like the old days? This shouldn’t be so difficult to enjoy a damn game with people online… crazy

First, you only see public games of your chosen dificulty, and there are 20 difficulties.

Second, vast majority of players are also at max level, so you can’t find them if you’re leveling.

Third, I would dare say that no one plays the campaign in public games, the humongous majority of people exclusively play adventure mode which you unlock by beating the campaign once. (Or play a seasonal char, which has access to adventure mode by default)

It’s not, but the leveling portion is such a tiny fraction of the game that outside of season start hardly anyone is leveling, definitely not in public games. It takes literally 5 minutes to get from level 1-70 in adventure mode if someone boosts you.

But if you’re looking for people to play with as a social thing, finding a community is probably your best bet, not much socializing in random groups in D3, in my experience at least.

press Shift + O and look for the community that is doing what you want to do and request to join and speak in the chat. It’s the closest thing to the D2 chat rooms.

If you need any help with anything in game friend me and I will help. Avalon#11311 :point_left:

If you’re trying to play season, the season is almost over. Everyone and their granny are lvl70 and farming T16 so you will not see any active players in any other difficulty BUT T16.

Same thing goes for non-season. Just join a few communities and start building up your friends list with some trustworthy people. Avoid public games, they’re a sewer of jerks + bots.

A good way is too use the general chat.
If you have questions, don’t hesitate to post them, there will be always some players to reply and/or help you “in game” and

Don’t forget to be polite, don’t ask for the same question every 10s, sometimes players take few minutes to reply

Depending on what difficulty you’re trying to join public games on, there may be pre-requisites that you have to satisfy first…

To Access Public Group Solo GR completion Required
Torment I-VI No requirement
Torment VII Solo Greater Rift 30
Torment VIII Solo Greater Rift 35
Torment IX Solo Greater Rift 40
Torment X Solo Greater Rift 45
Torment XI Solo Greater Rift 50
Torment XII Solo Greater Rift 55
Torment XIII Solo Greater Rift 60
Torment XIV Solo Greater Rift 65
Torment XV Solo Greater Rift 70
Torment XVI Solo Greater Rift 75

Once you created a game session, at any time you can press ‘Esc’ and click “open game to public” option. Mind you though, most of the lower difficulties will be deserted this far into the season and possibly at non-season as well. Most of the playerbase already finished high Greater Rifts and left any lower difficulty than Torment 16. If you want a fresh start and play with other people at Torment 1 or Master difficulty, you better wait for next season start.

Vanilla D3 limits character level to level 60. Reaper of Souls boost this to level 70, and upon successful completion of campaign mode, unlocks adventure mode. At this point public games (seasonal and non-seasonal) becomes an option.

And it was actually a challenge to get to 60 mind you! You just had to put up with WoW style armour.
It really was awful no matter which way you look however better graphics than D2 was.

I don’t play Wow, so no references, but yes, you didn’t access to lvl60 in 2mins ^^

It was roughly around the same time as the arrival of those awful mists and pandas which ruined everything.

Start a seasonal character in adventure mode. I saw you had a lvl 2 wizard, but not seasonal. Very few people play nonseasonal. So if you want to play with people, you have to play in the seasons. It is never too late to start the season. Plenty of people out there willing to help a noob figure out the ropes. Good luck.

It is more easy to play with online people in D3 once you reached T16. You don’t have to search for room or afraid of get griefed by PKers when playing with others in D3. All it will take is one click on Public Bounty, or Public GR or Public Rift to play with others.
