How do I hide my profile?

SSIA. I’d like to hide my profile.

There’s nothing worth hiding.

Yep. You can make it harder to see the forum history and character profiles, but you can’t make it go away completely.

Never say anything on a forum that you don’t want others to easy see. Kind of like not saying things in public you don’t want others to hear or judge you on.

I hear you. The reason that I want to hide my profile is that it seems that whenever I ask a question, there is a faction that feels compelled to shame you. e.g., if I were to ask when the current season ends, someone is going to reply that I should spend less time worrying about the schedule and do something about my pathetically rolled bracers.

Ignore those folks who try to do that. The only time Profile really matters is when you ask about something gear or build related. Then it helps to see what you have set up to give advice.

Something else though, you (everyone) really should search and look up things before making a post. Comments like that tend to be made when multiple people have asked the same question over and over without bothering to look first.

Honestly, I did. With this situation, Karyesus said, “Your profile > Preferences > Interface > Hide my public profile and presence features > Save changes.” And I HAD seen things like this before. But the problem is this. I assume that means click on something that says “Your profile”. WHERE do I find this?? In the forum? Within a post? In Battle.net? Within the game itself? I couldn’t find anything in any of those places. Battle.net itself is a fairly complex area and you can spend forever clicking through menus.

In the end, I actually found it someplace else. Within a post, I have to click on the avatar image assigned to my account. This brings up a box with “View Activity” and “View Profile”. But if I then click the avatar image in this popup box, I’m brought to a page that has some profile information, and there is a Preferences tab there. At this point, I can sort of follow Karyesus’ instructions. But getting to this point wasn’t easy.

Oh… Yeah that is a forum function. The default way to get to it is to go to your avatar picture at the top right of the website or from a post. On the Activity tab should be the Preferences cog wheel. From there follow  I see you were successful in fixing the setting.

Oh sorry, I thought you’d know how to get to your profile, I’m glad to see you could hide your profile at the end. Next time I’ll give more instructions so they’re easier to follow.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t work for me. When I click on that top-right avatar, I get a long list of notifications, “Change Avatar” and “Dismiss”. No preferences. Of course, this is all academic, as I WAS able to make the change, but it’d be nice if they made it a little easier to find.

Once you’ve clicked on your avatar image at the top right; you need to click on your username that’ll show up to the left of the notification bell icon. Doing so should bring you to the activity tab where you could then click on the preference cog wheel.

Thanks, Oblivion. It works that way for me. It’s one of these things that, once you know how to do it, it’s easy.
