When I launch the battlenet game launcher, it always comes up with World of Warcraft as the default selected game, even though it is second on the list. I want the first game, Diablo 3, to be the default. I can’t find where to change that in the settings. I have rearranged the games in the list but it doesn’t matter. How can I make D3 the default game to be selected in the launcher?
Edit: SOLVED - found another “launcher” in the D3 game directory, and if you use that one it will default to showing you D3 as the initial selected game. Wonder if all of the other games also have their own launcher executable in their respective subdirectories…
Not sure if there is such a setting. Every time I log into the Battlenet launcher, it goes to the last game I selected or was playing before I closed the launcher.
You would think so, but I’ve been playing D3 for a week now and it still goes to WoW every time I launch it. Obviously not a huge thing, but if it would default to D3 I’d just have to hit [enter] and be done with it.

Wherever that variable might be stored, is that file set to read-only by any chance?
Indeed, that is how it should work unless for some reason that setting is not being saved.
What file stores the launcher settings?
I don’t exactly know. I do know that there is Bnet Launcher type data stored in a Cache file on your PC. There is a support article telling people how to clear the cache so that lets you find that folder.
OS (C:) > Program Data > Blizzard Entertainment
That should get you a general location. I can’t promise that variable is there though or what document it would be in. Still, you can check read write permissions.
Just found a way to achieve this. That is if you log into Battlenet every time anyway. Create a desktop shortcut icon for D3. Then double click it, login, D3 should already be selected, and press Enter.

Like the shortcut method, however I’m paranoid about patching and this bypasses updates. But it does give me the simpler method of starting D3…
All of our games should have their own launchers which creating a shortcut should launch on Diablo III.
Just wanted to add onto this here as well, you can force the Blizzard Application to start on a specific game by editing the shortcut target as well. You can right click on the desktop background, go to New > Shortcut, and enter in this to the location for Diablo III:
battlenet://D3

Well, I found that each game seems to have its own launcher in the game directory, so I just created shortcuts to each different launcher and that solved it. I’d rather have just one icon for all blizz games, but whatevs, wasted too much time on this silliness already.
