Hellforge Embers drop rate

Current estimates is that they drop about 6x more often then Ramalandi’s gift. However not only are there 7 shards they can be used on, you need 3 forges for each gem to max it out.

How many of use have played for a week or two in season before you find a gift? I know I have. Nothing sucks more than being 1000+ paragon without a socket in your ancient or better weapon.

Now imagine the same scenario but you have a rank 0 shard in your weapon and a rank 1 shard in your helm…this would feel pretty bad.
I’m not asking for some crazy 3+ times buff, but there should be a buff.

Agreed. Plus, this 6-7x estimate is only with a small subset of testers, so they could have just gotten lucky.

I’m glad they drop more frequently than gift because yes, gift is essentially a Primal item drop in my eyes. Sometimes haven’t gotten one until P1200!

As is, running 120+GRs isn’t exactly raining shards with the high upticked drop rate so I can expect players to feel pretty frustrated pre-P1200 or so.

From the little testing I’ve done playing PTR I can see that we are going to want and need lots of Embers.
I can imagine the general forum being inundated with posts about how hard it is obtaining them and how many will be experiencing bad RNG.

I agree the drop rate is seemingly lower than it should be. But I think the gaming experience will be similar to ethereals. You’ll use whatever you get at first, especially during leveling. Eventually you’ll get the shard you want and switch to that. And finally, you’ll get the shard you want with good numbers on it and push with that.

I think if they fixed the issues with the secondary stats, the drop rate would be fine. And by that I mean, a DH shouldn’t be getting Int or Arcane Dmg, for example, and the all res roll is still way way stronger than any other. Fixing this would reduce the overall number of embers needed to get what you want for your build.

It has felt like I am always getting more shards than embers.

If this is true, them you have a chance to salvage a perfect shard. I would have less issue if you could see what bonuses you get, but with how things sit right now, they either need to increase ember drop rate allow you to make embers.

Perhaps they can add that salvaging a shard also gives a random number of embers, like up to 10 or similar.

I definitely think they should salvage into Embers rather than gems, it just makes more sense overall.

Salvage into Embers would solve a lot, but Embers definitely need to drop much more often than shards. How about at least a chance at Embers from bounty caches? Embers from Gobbies? Big Ember drop from a rainbow Gob?

I know I’ve played more than 40 hours into a season before seeing my first gift, but by the end of the season I’ve found and used probably 20 and just stop picking them up once I have a stack of 100. At the end of this coming season, I should have some Embers left over too. At least the Embers stack but I don’t want my stash filling up with shards that I can’t unlock. That would be frustrating and the exact opposite of fun in the game.

Another Idea I had would be to increase the Ember drop rate after primals are unlocked or perhaps once the +stash tab level of the seasons journey is done.

Part of the problem is it’s easier to miss ember drops… they look like any other legendary item drop… an orange star/beam and when I’m key farming rifts I don’t bother with vanilla legendaries… the red shards though… red could be primal or shard… you never leave them behind.
