So that means that for every one Ramaladni we can expect about five to six Embers, statistically speaking?
Kinda BS if you’re required to be level 70 before Embers drop yet you can get a Shard at level 1.
Not really. Salvage the free shards (they’re guaranteed drops) to get gems of random color and quality.

Yes, really…
The entire theme is dependent on Embers as the Shards can only improve through them.
I get that getting to level 70 is not a big deal, generally, but at that point the loot table is maximized and the elusive hunt begins.
Gems are meaningless, practically, as they are extremely easy to get whether one salvages a Shard or not.
Oh well… it is not busted. Just annoying.
They’re not meaningless when leveling up. Usually you get low quality gems from from 1 to 60 (I believe) measly rubies for helmet and weapon (if you get a weapon with socket) and likewise for mainstat gems in chest and pants. Getting high class gems at low levels means a big power boost.

Having the power of Flawless Royal Ruby at level 30 or so means much faster leveling than if you’re running around with a flawless ruby or whatever level gem you’d normally be running around with.

Typically yes…however even the base power of the helmet shards will be superior to ruby for this season I feel.
What I meant is, the shards have the powers of all the Flawless Royal Gems. Ruby being one of them. That alone is helpful when leveling, but yes, the other base powers, ie regular gem abilities help.
Or I might be misremembering. Aren’t the base gem abilities the same as having all the regular gem affixes or is that only available after you’ve used an ember?
Since we won’t be able to upgrade the weapon shards until lvl 70 (due to Embers being only lvl 70 drop). The far more useful gems from shards will the flawless royal emeralds for weapons, and appropriate attribute + flawless royals for any jewelry and chest/pant slots during pre 70 levelling. I plan to be putting a terror shard in helm first thing.
The base is only the base power, not any of the stat affixes sadly.
With about a 10% chance of a flawless royal dropping from salvaged shards there’s a decent chance of pulling one early on. Drop one in a weapon slot and rip thru boss encounters. It’ll be a hoot at level 25 with a Flawless Royal Ruby slotted in your weapon mowing down monsters. Heck, even an Topaz gives insane Thorns (38K, IIRC).
Oh, and thanks to the OP for digging thru the data to find that info. I normally have abysmal luck with Ramaladni’s… I generally don’t get one until I hit P500 or so. Maybe I’ll get some embers early on this season.

Oh do they? This’ll be like finding a Rainbow gob pre-lvl20.
Yes they are.
At best the ruby reduces your time allotment to hit level 70. If you’re an optimizer, this will not be a significant number of minutes. And, you can just socket a Shard in the helmet and don’t need a gem at all.
Shards must be at least level 1 to gain Gem powers. They drop at level 0.
Rubies in weapons and helm, diamonds in anything else and you can run t6 well into 30s or even 40s if your good. Then you can switch over to a level 70 weapon if you were lucky enough to roll a good level reduction requirement. Hell, the diamonds alone will be a big boost for those doing the blade dance(halls of agony kiting strat). And of course having 2 to 3x the XP from the gem in the helm is a major boost too. I know I will farm more than a few shards before I get going.

The time expenditure to get to level 70 is so minimal it makes no difference whatsoever. It’s a meaningless adjustment to minuscule effect for a single season. Just level to 70 and don’t look back.

You clearly have no idea how to speed level or have any concept of this game. Getting a (at least) b/c you could get a better one) marquis ruby in your weapon at low level is a MASSIVE increase and speeds up your leveling exponentially.
Salvaging shards that you can farm from Kulle at lvl 1 jump starts this process. Watch any of the leveling guides by Razz, Wudjio, Bluddshed that actually know how to play the game efficiently/ Clearly even veterans of this game have things to learn.

I don’t mind ‘admitting’ that I’m a slow leveller, relatively speaking, and I do it solo. So anything that can make the proces more enjoyable and chill is welcome. Also, even when you hit lvl 70 there is still a way to go before you’re geared to run T6 and upwards.

Seems I made a mistake by not reading things closely.
The Shards only give base gem effects after they’re upgraded to level 1. For some dumb me reason I thought that was their basic effect.
That makes regular gems useful and restricts Shards from taking over until you are level 70 (since you can’t get Embers before then, apparently.)
