I don’t play hardcore D3 myself. It is such a depressing feeling to lose the character I spent so much time building. I don’t understand why players enjoy it.
I just learned that hardcore players just save gear and make a new hardcore character if their original starting hardcore character dies. That doesn’t sound very hardcore to me.
They should only allow only “one” hardcore character for “that” season. Then I am sure that hardcore players would be “tip toeing” a lot .

And wasting all their effort because SERVER lag or DC?
I dont play HC, but thats not nice, to say the least.

Lag is a killer, I agree. Disconnects I am not sure. If your computer and modem are not connected to a UPS, you’re at risk.

I play HC for experiencing that gut-wrenching feeling when fight or flight kicks in and you either save yourself or die.

I play Hardcore in D2 and PoE, I do not understand why D3 has cheat-deaths. that is just so wrong for the hardcore mode.

Oh man D2 HC is a rough ride.

I love HC in D2, and I enjoy D2 even more than D3, so that is a plus

I get over it with respawns. Hardcore, kick rocks and start at level 1? No thanks.
Heh, I usually collect Blackthornes and remove the level req. with gem of ease, then throw a nice level gem of ease in a L70 weapon, get back up to 70 in no time. Afterwards throw on a backup set, you’re back in business.
This is why current HC is pathetic but avid HC players will argue thats its good LOL. You even save your paragon. Its not HC at all

I agree. I thought hardcore was 1 chance at the season objectives. They just start a new one and gear up with stuff they saved.
Just a long winded respawn.
Which means you’re not harcore either, so you are the last person to be talking smack about it.

If only Softcore had half of the death penalty of Hardcore. Would make the game better.
HC is a bit silly in D3 with account based paragon (whereas saving gear is just normal HC behavior), but the real problem is SC’s complete lack of a death penalty, removing the sense of danger in SC that would otherwise engage you more in the combat.

I am talking bad about D3 hardcore. I thought it was much more glorifying to be a hardcore player in D3. What a scam from D2 hardcore.
In D3 just make a new character, use prepared gear and paragone levels to get back to level 70. Hardcore?
D3 hardcore has lost my respect today after I learned what they do if their seasonal hardcore character dies. Pathetic
Hardcore mode in seasonal needs a rework. Maybe in Diablo 4…
Only “one” hardcore character per season. Maybe “if” they rework it they may allocate some memory to create a small grave yard (with tombstones) of past hardcore characters. The only way to “resurrect” a past hardcore character is to have another hardcore character make it through the next season with all the season objectives done. Now that seems like more hardcore to me
I can’t speak much on D3 hc as I’ve only ever made 2 characters. Both hc and both are still alive. One is 8 years old. I’ve never made a D3 softcore character.
D2 LoD on the other hand I’ve been playing hc for about 18 years. Successful legit D2 hc players are very good players. Specifically the players who don’t buy their gear off websites like jsp, and don’t level up by following or using bots.
The secret with D2 to not dying via bnet lag is knowing how to ride out the lag and knowing when to save and exit before it’s too late.
The same pretty much happens in Diablo 2. People mule their gear, have a buddy (or a second PC) level them back up in no time.

Have you tried it yet? Solo?
Getting a Gem of Ease to 25 is not as easy as you might think.
Even soloing GR20 can be fatal if you are used to the forgiveness of SC.

I have. I have never thought of continuing by creating a new HC character. I am a softcore player still trying to figure the numbers out. How can anyone calculate rift boss’s one shot kill potential?
If I notice that I am not dying anymore in softcore, I may try hardcore again.
Monks, Barbs, and Crusaders have it easier than the other classes.
That 30% damage reduction can make the difference between Life and Death.
30% of A LOT OF DAMAGE still equals A LOT OF DAMAGE.
For me, it is difficult to know when to move up to the next torment level. I have tried using solo Grifts as testing ground. I gear up the character with life saving skills like “fatal damage saves”. I always seem to use it up and get the character killed
