It just occurred to me that a very important convenient feature of playing Solo in Diablo 3 is pausing. It’s an underappreciated perfect aspect if you end up needing to go away from the game for a bit in the middle of something. But from everything we know about Diablo 4 so far, will you even be able to pause that game? We don’t even have confirmation on whether or not we can play truly solo and disable randoms showing up in our instances. That’s bad enough, but will pausing not be in Diablo 4 at all? And if it’s there, will it be disabled at inopportune moments by having other players randomly show up?
This may seem like a minor thing to some, but to me this basic feature is pretty damn important.
I am asking about solo play. I thought I’d reiterate here in case anyone else got a D in English.
What’s this reply? It has nothing to do with, what the OP want’s to know. The topic is about pauseing the game.
So to be on topic. I hope when you’re playing alone, you can pause the game, and the system notices that, and will mark you as un-targetable/un-interactable, while you’re away.
I’m tired of reading post’s from people that are dumbfounded why they ripped after pausing in a HC gr or rift.
I never pause, as I know HC is a ‘thing’.
You finish the rift or gr or bounty and go to town.
Then you talk to your wife/girlfriend/ or put the fire out or answer the phone or let the dog out.
Well yes if you play HC you do stuff after finishing an activity. But pauseing is a good feature the mayor SC part of the player base. Just because the option is there, you don’t have to use it. That’s why it’s an option, you use it when/if you want it.
With the information so far u will be able to run dungeons solo. In the open world u might see a few ppl here and there. So pausing in open world i rly doubt. In a dungeon? Well doubt it aswell. As u said yourself its seen as a minor thing.
Based on the information we got so far u wont have your “own game” like in d3 and d2. I rly doubt they change that as they obv want to try something new for d4.
And what if you go away for less then ~15 minutes? I dont want to port back to town for two minutes. And what if im in a timed activity? And dont want to lose progression. Pauseing a good feature. It’s not alwyas neccesary, but it’s good to have as an option.
What in the world did you even try to say? Did an A.I write this? Or can you just not pause in Hardcore mode? And did you make this on your phone? Forgive my ignorance but I had to actually look up HC likely even refers to Hardcore mode. I just don’t find the fear of losing all progress on death to be a good motivator and an enjoyable experience. So I know next to nothing about D3’s Hardcore mode.
Ah yes how very productive. “I don’t need it so if it’s not there you shouldn’t be allowed to be disappointed by it.” Truly this is a revolutionary stance. A round of applause to you.
Even if it doesn’t inconvenience you specifically to be unable to pause in the middle of a singleplayer experience still doesn’t mean that applies to everyone. There’s no good logical reasoning given. You’re just coldly saying “COPE” like it’s supposed to mean something.
Oh okay my bad. I’ve been feeding the troll. I guess that one’s on me. I’ll give you this Mr. Witty, you outwitted me enough to take you seriously for a second there. Slow clap.
But what if i have to go away in the middle? Because there’s something that requires my attention right away? But dosen’t require me to be away for long. A pause feature/option is needed. And just because you and some other people don’t need it, doesn’t mean everyone should deal whit out it.
Based on everything that we know thus far, pausing likely won’t be an option in D4. After all, we don’t have an option to create private games, and that alone kills nearly any chance of having a pause feature. The only exceptions I could think of, would be running campaign mode and/or a dungeon completely solo, since those will be private instances. However there’s no guaranteed that even they would allow for pausing.
