[Guide] Zodiac Rend (Season 20)

Does anyone here think there is an ‘optimized’ solo speed grift build yet?

I’m running wastes, nemesis, coe, bom, flavor. As weapons - echoing and ambos. Cubed: messer, chilanik, obsidian.
passives: boon, berserker, ruthless, rampage
Skills: battle rage (ferocity); ww (wind shear); IP (bravado); War Cry (impunity); Charge (Merciless); and Wrath (Insanity).

I can consistently solo grift 90 in under 3 minutes - sometimes well under depending on density and pylon.

Move speed is great but I’m willing to drop some movespeed for increased damage - I would love to be able to speed 100+ solo in under 3 minutes. Have any of you achieved this yet? I’m at 1600+ paragon with quite a few level 120 augments.

I did read the guide in the OP but I just can’t seem to get an overall optimized build right. If I drop messer for furnace in the cube I’ll lose a huge amount of cooldown which I need for this build. I could drop chilanik for channeling perhaps then change that skill out…?

Very grateful for feedback from solo speed demons

Thanks, this guide is pretty clear on that but that dude insisted that I make up my claims or what.

I guess some ppl are just impossible/not worth reasoning with but then again what to expect from general chat ppl.

Yeah, I’ve had some . . . interesting conversations with folks in General, most of whom just don’t understand the build/game very well, but want to feel knowlegable all the same. Just direct them to the guide and ignore.

If you check my profile right now my barb has his solo speed GR stuff on right now. I am able to run 95-97 in 3-4 minutes and even knocked out a couple 100s in 4 min or so last night. As long as BOM stays up its a solid build though dying on the RG can make it become a bit of a pain to finish the GR.

Will do and lesson learned.
I actually did that with this person but he claimed what I say is not written in this guide so ye…

Thanks for the guides btw,did not play Barb in a very long time and it was useful/interesting to read how all this work in detail.

I use what’s in the guide. Happy to run some with you non-Season if/when you’re on. Just let me know!

I am not sure of the details, but I can tell based on this that you’re likely making some mistaken tradeoffs. In particular, I think you’re sacrificing too much damage for movement speed. Now, I’m not sure if you’re playing season, or non, so that could have an effect.

I am playing season, which does help of course with the proc, but I am clearing 95’s in under 3 minutes consistently with 400 less paragon. Here are a couple things I think you should try:

  • Use Furnace in cube if running Ambo’s. You never need ORotZ and Messerschmidt’s, just one or the other.
  • If you do want speed, there is no better speed buff than just using BK swords.
  • You’re using Ferocity, IP-bravado, Chilanik’s, and Echoing Fury for movement speed instead, all of these are giving up damage.
  • If you want to use Messerschmidt’s, the reason to do so is to save yourself a ring slot from ORotZ. This is what the group speed builds do so they can use Focus/Restraint. This is a huge damage buff for speeds not just because FR is a higher multiplier, but it’s always up compared to CoE. I use it in T16 so I can use Avarice Band.

My current build in the armory is my T16 one, so I am not sure, but I think I’m just using BK swords with the core zodiac build, and Nems instead of Channeling in the cube, and that lets me do higher-faster than all the tradeoffs you’ve made.

Friendly Reminder:

I am always willing to help folks in game. If you want to group to farm non-Season items, keys, or Bounties, add me: Free#1746

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I switched out CoE & BoM for Focus/Restraint and cubed BoM instead of Zodiac.

I kept messer and mantle in the cube. Instantly went to 100s and averaged about 2:45 per clear. I desperately need better bracers/neck and I’m sure I could go higher.

I did get a very nice Primal Doombringer but - and perhaps I wasn’t clear about this - for me ‘speeds’ is whirling through a grift sub 3:00. So I fundamentally need move speed…let’s see if I find an even better balance

Under 3 minutes is great for farming gear when your still searching for correct rolls.
Once you get decent gear and upgrades become rare and would focus more on the 4-5 minutes range. Maybe do 105s instead of 100s. This will net you more paragon per hour and waste less keys. Also sub 3 minutes for the new rend build is tuff. Rend on the bar and no nemesis bracers makes sub 4 minutes a more realistic goal. My runs are 3:30-5 for 110 and 4:30-6 for 115s.

Even more important is how you attain items.
I have used this method for 3 years.

Jewelry you use bounty mats
armor you get from kadala
weapon you upgrade rares.

Do not stray form this and prioritize paragon over gear and you will be fine

In my “speed” (seasonal) Ive:
BK, Nemesis, 6WW, Lamentation, Squirts Necklace, BoM and CoE.
Cubed: Ambo’s, Chilannik and Zodiac.
Bar: WW (Hurricane usually make the rend miss the mobs, I use any other rune), War Cry (usually Ferocity), (Shout for the cubed belt/forgot the name), Wrath (Insanity), Charge (the 1st rune) and the Marathon skill (also forgot the name) or IP (Bravado). Switching those according to the range of the GR, more speed for 90 or less, and more defense on the 100.
Passives: Buff damage on enemies with less than 40% health, the cooldown for Wrath, Max Fury dmg enhancer and Ruthless.
Gems: Gogok, Taeguk and the Green gem that Grants u a Shield.

Sorry about the names, I’ve a real issue with them.
PS. Sorry about the english, Im not fluent.

Gr 123 done with minimal fishing(para 1900) - 3mins spare, BKs, WW6, strongarms(just cant pass the godly primal rolls on em:)), hellfire, full offensive passives with boon, amethyst in helm, augus 100s in most items except helm/belt(non ancient). I believe with good flower i will do 125.

Be prepared to fish for that 125, speaking from experience.

Nice work! And nice gear! You got some sweet primals there, buddy! To clear 123 that easily, you had some GG maps + mobs, and probably some excellent Pylons! But it still takes skill, and you definitely brought that to the table!

Tell me about it! 115-122 went down so easy for me. Soon as I jumped to 125 it became fish city.

I must read the Guide again to memorize it, but when we talk about good maps and mobs were talking in open areas with zombies and scorpions? Last night Ive completed my 120 at 1K around Paragon (seasonal, but I still need to improve the Pandemonium management), to that, Ive done some fishing for a good starting area (the barbs Frozen Forest) then skipped 2 floors badly populares to finish into the bones sewer (from act V), and just one Shield Pylon.
Now ill put 100 augments in all the gear and get at least 1.5K para before trying to rise that to a 130.

I think you misread my post. I simply asked about ‘solo grift speeds’ - if I want paragon, I’ll do 115ish speeds with clan (crusader, zmonk, zbarb and me).

In my downtime though I don’t just like to do bounties or key farming.

I just spent about 400 of each bounty mat trying for a good squirts (ancient). Terrible luck.

EDIT: @Free - would love to play with you but I’m in an EU clan. I presume you play on NA servers. Since I just moved back to NA I’m considering a change…let’s see…

Some details for F+R + Squirt speed build:
It is probably best farm build for lower GR. It is not for T16 (for T16 is builds with much more movement speed and with avarice - there is no room for F+R, but Squirt is usefull for T16).

  • WW6, lamentation, Nemesis, Squirt, F+R, only rings and amulet without CDR
WW Hurrican (it is faster with Hurrican), Insanity, Ferocity, Bloodbath, Marathon, Merciless a.
  • passive: WM, Boon, Rampage and one of NoS/Berserker Rage/Pound of flash
  • BoM is mandatory to stay alive and to keep up Squirt (Molten alone is not enough)
  • in cube of course MSR
  • weapon Ambo’s + EF (best combination, but Ambo’s + Doom or Sunkeeper works too), build works only with Ambo’s in hand (no room for Ambo’s in cube)
  • lvl GR have to be low enough to maintain cooldowns with MSR (3 min run maximum, average run time around 2,5 min)
  • don’t forget that you will not always have WoTB for whole RG fight (again don’t raise difficulty too high)

With 4k paragon I play GR104 in average 2,5 min.

For lower paragon use St. Archew’s Gage in cube. It helps very much with higher uptime of Squirt. If Squirt uptime is less than 75-80% of time, than use St. Archew’s Gage. If it is 75%+ with Mantle, than Mantle is better.

It is build for super speed GR, thats way need some MS:

  • Echoing fury is a bit better than Doom/Sunkeeper
  • Marathon sprint
  • Furious charge MA (proc F+R, proc BoM, higher speed)
  • BR Ferocity

With all another builds I have less XP/hour.
