[Guide] Zodiac Rend (Season 20)

Thank for the guide. GR122 in 13mins @p1800. Tweaked it a little bit by running no bul-kathos passive, perfectly balance CC with the odd hard rend.

Did a 100 in 5:13 last night. Just shy of 1100 paragon, not sure about main stat off the top of my head, but probably mid 14k?
Wearing decent BoM (rcr, chc, CHD) and zodiac that still has ias from pre-rend days, with RoRG in cube, CC variant with BK (%ED, CDR) and APDs since my APDs are better than my Morticks.

Dfans version of guide updated for S19! Quite the overall with all the changes.

The d3planner link in the guide tries to capture all 4 versions of the build (Wastes IB/IK, WW/Crimson IB/IK)

Spin to win!!!

Where is the link to d3planner? I can’t find it. Can you give me it pls?

its in part 1 of the guide at the very bottom. If you like it please gie it a + so we can move it to the top and get the word out!

Nope, I can’t confirm nor deny that this is the case; nor can I think of a reasonable testing scenario that would prove that this is indeed the case.

I asked JustinFan to provide any ressources for us to understand/reconstruct that this is actually the case within the original thread. I haven’t gotten a response nor have I seen any other 3rd person providing one.

To me right now, it’s still unclear how it works. Don’t get me wrong: I love it when people contribute. I just don’t accept it if that contribution isn’t transparent.

Wait, surely we can test the validity of the statement “Increasing your attack speed increases tick frequency, but the damage dealt is the same.”

Best one yet!

Didn’t have much time last night to play or try to “push”. I did personally clear Grift 100 in 4min 25s with no deaths. Aprox. 1300 paragon. Not sure what My mainstat is, and can’t look it up while at work. Buff to Lamention is huge. Last time i tried to clear a 100 with same build I was about 5 minutes over.

Have Decently rolled gear using the Crimsons variant. BK weapons are both Ancients. No augments on any gear piece. Only primal is my Zodiac Ring. Also instead of BoM & FoT, I am running Compass Rose and Travelers Pledge.

Smart to stay under the radar a bit longer.

Also, this new iteration of whirlrend is cool because for low level players such as myself (with <3k paragons) the exact mix of gear is much less crucial to the clear than the map layout itself.

Ive been gone for quite a while but came back a few weeks ago. Set up the new build too, guess Im considered low paragon now. Doing WW with Istvans, does the Channeling Pylon increase the damage now too with Istvans set or is there a cap with CDR, I think Im at 63% with gear and paragon? Was just wondering.

I assume you are talking about the buff from the Crimsons set? If so… not that I am aware of. I don’t think Channeling pylon modifies your sheet CDR. I think it just reduces the CD time of the skills themselves.

So something weird is going on.

Running with WW5/CC2, cube Ambo’s, Lamentation, BoM, wearing Zodiac and RoRG, because that’s what I had.

With BK swords, I rolled through 105 in about 7 minutes.

With Istavans I could barely keep up with the timer on a 105.

Both sets are ancient with similar damage ranges, all are rolled with 10% damage, all skills the same other than changing to wind shear rune.

Is there something I am missing about Istavans blades?

Well to start you shouldn’t be running istvans in a speedish run. It will slow you down everytime. Also BOM in most cases should not be run with the CC set. It has its own defense built into it already. Switch BOM for COE and elite/large pack hunt. RORG should 99% of the time be in the cube. I don’t know any other info but thats what i would change. My best guess is you are super slow with istvans and got bad maps on top of it.

Yes, channeling pylons will act like damage pylons as it buffs your sheet CDR. My CDR goes from 60% to 90% on every channeling pylon. That is a 50% multiplier. Nowhere near a power pylon but anything helps.

For my gear level that’s as high as I’ve been, so wasn’t really a speed run.

Only have my rings set that way as I don’t have a decent BoM to wear.

The map wasn’t bad, it just felt like Istavans was doing no damage.

Maybe something else was wrong, but I was running out of time before work to test it. Maybe have to start again and re-check everything.

Was just very strange

A 7 minute run can almost be considered a speed run. If everything stays the same maps/mobs/pylons istvans will be slower then BKs every time in 7 minute runs. Istvans will shine when you are really pushing your max. Like if you decided to try a 115+. To add you are mixing two builds. Don’t run BOM with crimson. You need the damage from convention on elements.

Yep, I get what you’re saying, but this wasn’t just a bit slower, this was such a massive damage drop, that I am thinking there must be something else wrong.

With Istvan’s, I run lightning and switch rend to lacerate. Also, you need to switch battle rage to swords to plough shares. It’s still slower movement speed, but it should kill pretty quickly for you.

Thanks Jeb, as I said to Chris, I think there must be something else I was missing, like maybe I stupidly forgot to equip the RoRG or something like that.

Will have to take another look at it all tonight, and see if I can figure it out.

Yup, GR121 done (para 1860), Bks, COE/BOM, strongarms, missing like 5 auguments and goodblamentation, was 3 min spare, no fishing, time to get my gems to 120+ finally as almost pure solo player.
