[Guide] Zodiac Rend (Season 20)

Great, now D3 is pay to win. I knew it was coming eventually.

How else do you think Barbs were going to become competitive?

Found an almost-primal BK sword:
1550-1910 Cold Damage
970 str
980 vit
1205 Life per fury spent

According to guide:

  • Strength
  • Vitality (low-Paragon) or 10% damage (high-Paragon)
  • 10% CDR
  • Socket: Emerald
  • Secondaries: Any except Chance to Fear on Hit
  • Augment: Strength
  1. Should I roll off LPFS for CDR? But I already have 43% CDR (1 Ring, Glove, 1 weapon got CDR). or
  2. Should I keep LFPS and roll off VIT for 10% Damage? or
  3. Should I roll off LFPS for 10% Damage?

I’d roll off lpfs. If you are using Crimson, go for cdr. If not, go for 10% damage. In either case, you, unfortunately, need to keep looking.

Any chance people posting new clears could provide total main stat instead of their paragon level? Would provide a little better context to current power levels.

LPFS -> 10% Damage then…
and switch it to CDR eventually

I sure want to go Crimson. Unfortunately, I dont have a good BoM nor RoRG…

1 key GR122 in 14:20. Average map, good conduit, no power. 21,551 strength.

Used lightning with IB, CC, BoM (no CoE). Missing half my augments and gems are 100.

Impossible to answer that without knowing more about your build. Are you running Core Zodiac or Crimson’s? What’s your Paragon?

Rage, thanks for testing. This is the first time in days I’m able to log on.

These results mirror what I and others were experiencing. More tests to follow.

I was initially doing core zodiac when i found that almost primal.

after a while, I pulled out a crappy RoRG from stash, + Zodiac and cube BOM and went Crimson for the moment. CDR is 59%, and 39 RCR. Tougher and hits harder than core…

though I am not sure if I am missing something…

really awesom how barb got a love this time. sweeet!

GR 120,
1385 Paragon, 18K Main Stat

CC Variant with BK Weapons

Pretty pleased with these changes so far

Dude you are glutton for punishment, I gotta say.

Still got to augment my gear properly (I confess I’m too bored to do all the ruuuuuns), but here what I’ve managed today:

#2 on NA LB is using ambo in hand with doombringer, furnace cubed

None of the top ww barbs have pushed yet on the NA boards. I wouldn’t put too much thought into that build until you start seeing times closer to 15 minutes. 11 minutes clears are not pushes. Ulmaguest rank #1 clear is with SS too so ww can go above that im pretty sure. On a side note I cleared 127. Was very ruff and almost lost it at the end. Died 3 times. Only one good map and no conduit pylon so 128-129 might be doable if i can stay alive.

Hi free!
Thank you very much for your help with guides!
I can’t see a link to d3planner on your 1st message in this topic. Maybe because I am Russian and don’t understand English well or because there is really no link. Can you add a link to d3planner pls if its there is no or to place its on most prominent place in the early first message if it somewhere got lost the bottom.

And can you do same thing with d3planner link in topic with top 7 barbarian builds (solo an group), pls.

I got a decent map and finished a 128 with a bit over 2.5 minutes to spare. I think with a good map I could handle a 130 and with a dream map maybe a 131-132 at my paragon (~3.2k). Regarding toughness I’ve been running with IB’s and it definitely helps as you start creeping up and I was able to find a pair where i could roll 10% CDR/RCR using the CC version so the extra toughness helps with survival.

It’ll be interesting to see which flavor ends up on top of the leader board, I also tried out the Ambo/Doombringer with Furnace cubed combo and it definitely feels like it has some potential but the loss of toughness was noticeable. One version I was playing with was a bit different but it felt very strong:

WW6
Pride of Cassius
Flavor of Time
Mortick’s
BK’s
F&R rings

Cube Ambo/Lamentation/Zodiac

Skills are:

Bash/Punish
WW/Bloodfunnel
WotB/Insanity
Rend/Bloodbath
Ignore Pain/Iron hide
Call of the Ancients/Together as One (higher GR’s, Battle Rage/Into the Fray for lower)

It’s cooldown intensive with the need to keep IP, WotB and CotA up but even without Battle Rage the damage potential feels higher than what I cleared the 128 with. The play style is a little clunky, I keep Bash on left click to keep the damage bonus from Punish up but it’s needed to keep the F&R bonus up full time. It’s risky to push this way in HC but I might give it some real runs tonight to see how it goes.

No problem, man. Didn’t mean to steal your thunder, I just got to thinking about it and realized it would be easier to test before the extra +150% damage bonus to Lamentation went live.

Free. Thanks as always for keeping the guide up to date. Finally hit 2k paragon today  One-keyed a 117 in under 10 minutes with the CC variant using a Avg Dam CoE and Mortick. Plenty of room to grow, gear isn’t really optimal for Rend but I’m extremely happy with the changes. Essentially the same build that I barely cleared 107 before the original patch hit. 8 more GR’s and I’ll match my wiz personal best.

Good luck all!
