After not playing for almost a year… I’m still worthy!
132 NS down in 14:10
(stupid me, died 4x like an idiot at the rift guardian) - now rank 233 EU Barbarian… It pisses me that I’m still not good at fishing… Otherwise I know that I could do 135 at least with my gear … It’ll come…
Grats…What makes you think you are bad at fishing? Knowledge of what to look for or your willingness to actually do it? My personnel problem is the willingness to actually spend the time fishing. After 50-100 keys I get so bored and go back to grinding metas for more paragon. You need to have a certain mindset and determination like anything else in life. It takes weeks to months to find certain combos that will give you those clears that are truly amazing. Seras and Rage are two that are willing to do it and why they both have the lowest paragon clears at their respective builds in the world.
I tend to get bored / annoyed if I don’t get a push clearance within 50 keys, and will generally go back to farming lower GRs to level up some spare gems until I’m back in the mood. As a result, I’ve got around a dozen rank 125 gems in my seasonal Stash right now, and I’ve put rank 125 augments on a couple of primals I’ve found which are being kept for non-seasonal Barbs, e.g. an IK belt and a H90 chestpiece.
Just farm paragon and gear till the last week then go for higher. I have only been throwing keys in to test how my build feels and to see what I think I can clear. I almost did 140 today on key 4 but had a barracks spawn after my 4 corner fester.
We still have at least a month left so plenty of time.
I’d happily hand them over to either of you guys, were such a thing possible!
LoL, maybe after I make it to 136 with Leapquake!
Congrats on your clear, dallo!
I wanted to mention I took a peek at your gear, and it looks like you have your weapons in the wrong hands-- if you stick the weapon with 10% dmg in main hand, it will improve your hard-casts.
I just confirmed something I had more or less just assumed, which is that Ambo Rends or HC Rends overwrite one another one-at-a time, rather than converting all existing Rends to the most recently cast type, or something like that.
I tested by hard-casting 2x with a low level dagger, then switching to Ambo’s, and hitting with WW (and this was without the 6 piece Wastes bonus, so no Dust Devils). So, without Ambo’s, the hard-cast Rends last 15 seconds. I discovered that after switching to Ambo’s and hitting with WW, I could overwrite just one of those two hc Rends. The damage went up for one second, then stopped, but the second Rend continued on till the 15 second duration was up.
If I used the Dust Devils rune, though, it overwrote both Rends, and the effect wore off after 1 second.
I do admit that sometimes it just pisses me off that I have to do it and pick elites from one point of the map to the damn other side of it. But other than actually fishing itself (which is, well “throw a spell”), it’s mostly about when doing it, when it’s wise and when it’s not. That is probably what makes me lose a HELL of time.
Thanks rage, and yes indeed, I guess that when I saved the planner on maxroll i swapped the gear for some reason, but after reading this thread so many times I could make a cult out of it, I do know that rend damage is from the main hand and well, the higher the better!
Congrats to you for the gloves as well, fancy pair, even better than mine because at least you have experience instead of spine damage
I finally got started using Rage Flip . Feels way different then simply spinning around . But I see that it does work really well . Now comes the part of getting comfortable with it . It’s gonna take some getting used to . I hate it when I get too carried away and start pulling stuff left and right into me and then get myself killed because I either forget to buff or forget my Ignore Pain . LOL . But I can definitely see where the gathering of density is so important to pushing higher . I’ll keep working on it until I get decent at it . I replaced Sprint for Rage Flip and it’s still playing close to where I was comfortable to begin with . We’ll see how this goes .
Mastering Rage Flip will gain you a few GR levels for sure. If I haven’t pushed in a while, it takes me one or two runs to get my muscle memory timing down to proc BoM with stomps.
I noticed you mentioned IP, what gear are you running and paragon level? I would check, but player profiles are broken for me - can’t seem to load any. For reference, I’m at 5.8K paragon and tried Crimson again and it’s still too squishy compared to Core build. Swapping back may net you an additional few GR’s as well.
Edit - new ptr follow update looks promising for solo players. Small buff to provide additional utility.
I’d gear the following on the follower:
Nems, FoT and Spaulder?
Not sure what other Emanate combos would be useful. This should free up the character Amu slot for a Hellfire. Possible combos, Wep Master, Bes Rage, Brawler, Rampage, Ruth for fulll dps.
Yessir free FOT and Nems are an instant GR boost. We will be wearing Hellfire amulets again. The rest are some nice quality of life bonuses.
Enchantress will be best in slot follower.
Erosion-up to 10% damage bonus-random I’m assuming
Focused-mind 3-6% attack speed small bonus but still helpful with stricken and cooldowns. New Powered shield-Reduction to ranged damage by 3-6% based on int and 3% armor.
Amplification-2-4% elemental damage increase based on follow int if you have 40% elemental equipped. Slightly more if you are wearing doombringer.
Now for the juicy part!!!
Prophetic harmony-Reduce your skills cooldown by 5-10% based on follower int.
We will wear hellfire and put FOT on the follower. On this trade we are losing 8% cdr but gaining boon of bulkathos. The first thing I want to test is if gaining boon and the 10% from the follower will allow us to drop zodiac ring. If we can we will cube RORG then wear stone gauntlets. This would give us plenty of defense to then switch swords to ploughshare to into the fray. My guess is it still wont be enough. If this is the case and we still need zodiac, cooldown rolls will be devalued due to boon being taken. This will allow for elite damage being best in slot rolls on weapons over cdr.
There is also the possibility of taking tough as nails over boon and that being enough defense to allow for into the fray at a much lower paragon level.
Just some things I will be testing on the PTR for yall. Lets go Seras!!! 150 solo in non season next era.
Also this means Crimson is dead. Moving flavor of time to the follower will mean crimson is about 4% weaker
New patch will be great for solo play. Barb can finally gain Cain set!!! Now farming keys for solo push will be much faster. I’m excited for next patch. Will probably take a long break now until then so I can build up my grind reserve, haha.
Going to casually farm up hellfire mats while we wait for new patch. Hopeful for a leaderboard reset and a new era to begin as well.
Next season looks to be a dud as well, no buff compared to NS.
I have a bunch saved from years of not needing them. On the downside I had a perfect hellfire already which a trashed two seasons ago. Actually I take that back. They are still all in my box. Yess dude!!!
Just read through the patch notes and – wow! Lots of interesting stuff here, and I’m super glad to see them address Firebird’s, Rathma, and follower skills. Love the creativity and effort that went into these changes; I’ve always secretly yearned for a Disintegrate set. Hope they tune it properly.
As far as equipping followers, I see potential in:
Broken Crown: Slap a diamond in there and we eliminate most of the CDR rolls on, well, every Barb build. That’s a nice boost for Rend. Wondering if, as Chris noted above, this combined with the Enchantress will eliminate the Zodiac ring from Rend. If so, well, that’s cool, but there still isn’t a juicy alternative for that slot.
Flavor of Time: Yeah, Hellfires are nice, but Flavors get the extra stat roll, so I think there’s some competition for near-perfect FOTs.
Nems: Awesome! This is a nice boost for every build.
Gloves of Worship: Very nice!
Of course, for solo speed-farming, slapping Cain’s and Sage’s on the follower is also very nice.
