Eh, they’re just Ancients with a different badge on them. Like many I’ve found Ancients not only better spec’d than primals, but with their primary stats so close to a primal you’re splitting hairs to find the difference.
If primals were a bump up on Ancients, as Ancients are a bump up on regular Legs, it would be different.
But they’re not, they’re just nice Ancients. But hardly game changing.
My point exactly. They’re nothing special, just ancients with maxed affixes.
Yet people treat them as if they were something special and are thus obsessed about them. And when they realize the truth, they moan and try to suggest absurd changes to make them special.
That is why I think it was an idiotic decision to add primals in the game. They’ve done nothing but harm.
100% this…And the biggest problem as pointed out by many others many times is that they don’t always come with “perfect” rolls for your build.
Example - finally got a Primal UE Helm to drop - but it rolled with Dex/life%/RF meaning I had to roll off RF for either CHC or %MS, so my ancient with less than perfect Dex/6% CHC/15% MS is a far better option.
What would be nice would be if we had the ability to reroll multiple stats on a primal. Make it some insane gold cost ($20b or more?) and some amount of bounty/regular mats…
…but then the botters would all be decked in perfect primals…
Not really. There are a vocal few that like to cry about anything for any given reason. They are still a nice little carrot to chase as long as you know what you are chasing and are realistic about it. The people that whine and gripe about these trivial things seem to be the most vocal on the forums though.
Primals are a joke. Maybe you get one ever 200 leggos (I’ve gone 2000+ without getting one) and then the rng on rng is silly.
I have gotten 9 this season all just sitting in the stash. Well except the primal puzzle ring, that baby I used. Looking at my non season char maybe 1/10 primal drops is something useful.
I just try to get the best ancients I can as I know primals are like winning the lottery.
And how does the game know what build you’re playing and what are ideal affixes for that build? Like UE Multishot build you mentioned, it has several variants. How does the game determine which variant you’re playing and what affixes you need for each item?
edit:
Just to point out one thing. Items rolling with bad affixes is not a problem for primals alone, the entire itemisation suffers from it. It would be a less of an issue if a lot “clutter affixes” were removed from the affix pool an item can roll with. Especially offhands are hideously difficult to get rolled correctly.
