Diablo4’s “Return to darkness” should also pass through a greater use of Exocet
It’s literally the DIABLO font
- 100% of the text in diablo 1 was Exocet

- 100% of the text in Diablo 2 was Exocet

- only item names in diablo 3 was Exocet

- from preview, like diablo 3, only item names in Diablo 4 are Exocet … sadly

Bring back darkness, bring back the gothic vibe of the Exocet font to Diablo Franchise
Give back the Diablo franchise it’s letters of Darkness
Maybe the first and last time I’ll agree with you.

What in the world is exocet?
Oh noes, they made the text easier to read. The horror!

It’s THE DIABLO font
D2R also reworked it to make it easier to read… you have no excuse anymore
It’s a return to darkness not a return to the middle ages.
People like being able to read the items.
I’m not against them giving us the ability to load custom fonts, some dyslexic people could benefit from font changes and I guess you can have your Exocet then also.
Why should the official Font of the franchise should be an option rather than be the default
Then if you dislike it, download another font
They plan to release it to like 40 million people or more. It needs to be legible and functional to as many users as possible.
The average user doesn’t actually go into the customisation options so the default experience of any modern video game should aim to be as comfortable as possible to as many players as possible.
Options are nice but functionality is key to a good game experience, it wasn’t a mistake they changed the font in D3 and D4. Likely found it much easier to read while fitting more information into a smaller space.

Can’t you read… the reworked it for D2R to fix its reading issues
It was good for D2R but not for D4?
Well Exocet is fairly legible at a certain size but it doesn’t have a lower case so the text expand horizontally further than other fonts.
This is the “functional” aspect of the “legible and functional”. It simply fits less text in the same space.
It’s a lot easier to use this larger font when your item tooltips have no icons or boarders.
There is opportunity on D4 and D3 items for things such as flavour text and better stat descriptions due in part to a better selection of font.
I wouldn’t say it was “good” for D2R but it was very manageable and it’s nostalgia value is far higher than improved spacing. It didn’t need to save horizontal space because there is no boarder on the items, etc. If I remember correctly the D2R character stat screen actually uses a non-Exocet font in some places for better legibility, so they did need to make some concessions.

Nope still full Exocet, what you are talking might be the reworked aspect of it that they did for d2r
Exocet font is a very easy font to read.

Can’t see the image but yes I was talking about the reworked / modern aspect of it.
I only played the Beta though so I don’t know how much of it’s still that other font.
Sure there is. They don’t want to use it.
I 100000% agree and am so sick of boring text in games.
I literally didnt even know it was its own font as ive only seen it in Diablo and the text in Diablo 4 just looks so plain, I dont understand why they do this.
Maybe its for non gamers or something? but even they like cool designs everyone does.
this isnt flight simulator its diablo.
Yeah looking at items doesn’t feel like a diablo game
Wow item box with non-diablo Font
It may sound stupid for people with lack of development vision but ingame font is a pretty solid immersion aspect
Ask those people: Would it make sense to have comicSans as main font in diablo?
Most will answer no because it looks silly and doesnt fit with the game thematic
Then Exocet is exactly the opposite, it look cool and empowers the thematic
