Great, say goodbye to PC Diablo4

I’m not talking about “servers”, I’m talking about cloud infrastructure. Amazon EC-2 is built on Amazon Linux and Azure is built on CBL-Mariner. I’m not sure what Oracle Cloud uses but you get the gist.

more websites are still hosted on traditional servers than the cloud.

You are forgetting the two advantages us console users have over PC players that help mitigate the lack of precision. The dodge roll basically makes non mobile builds mobile and gives more mobile builds even more mobility. While the Nephalem Glory buff on console is quite a game changer.

Practice all you want you will be able to place hydras on the ground as precise with a controller.

not even close to true or even believable…

there’s a reason almost every Esport champion uses mouse keyboard for every game that allows them, and it’s not because controllers arent allowed. I mean you literally have to dig deep deep into something like Fighting games to find any controller use, and that’s only because the game is designed for them and a mouse would be pointless.

First off typo. But then you would have know that if you bothers to read your own thread and seen my previous comments about controller not being as precise, you would have known.

Second, no one brought up esports but you and your strawman.

Are you serious? Do you even play the game on console? NG mechanic is a massive hindrance to us. Stop trying to make console players inferior and PC players better than what they actually are.

Again, are you serious? I know of NO player who uses the dodge mechanism on console. NONE. In 6 years of completive playing.

On the negative side, we lack (vs PC):

  1. poorer mob density

  2. smaller screen FOV (with mobs that charge now doing their wind up animation off screen, meaning console players quite often don’t even see it coming). Tusked Bogan are notorious for this.

  3. crappy massacre bonus during levelling to clvl 70 vs PC

You can choose to believe that if you want. I’m not buying it. Again, you still haven’t answered my prior question (now asked 3 times).

With your post history, you questioning the veracity of other people’s statements and the believability of their claims certainly gave me a chuckle.

Or how Overwatch PC players beat their opponents with a controller. Must be luck then. :sunglasses:

You don’t need to be super precise for hydra placement so that’s a non-issue. Even for aiming skillshots such as ranged skills, there’s enough leeway where just pointing a stick in the general direction of your target is enough in Diablo.

I’ve been playing classes like zon and sorc in D2R on the switch more proficiently than I used to do on PC simply because I’m more skilled with gamepads in general. The only part that actually feels inferior is menu navigation.

Right. You have never dodge rolled out of an attack or a group of mobs ever on console. Sure Jan.

I don’t really play classes with skill shots and even then, the game has an auto aim assist that helps center in on targets you are pointing towards. But sure replace hydra for skill shots or anything needing to be more precise. I was just using it as an example.

That’s kind of my point though. There isn’t much in Diablo, at least not in D2 or D3, that requires insane ammounts of precision. Controller does the job just fine. On melee classes, it might just be straight up better.

Even if it doesn’t require it, it’s still harder to be as precise with an analog stick compared to a mouse.

Yes, all I’m saying is that it’s still a non-issue for arpgs. It definitely is for RTS (starcraft 64 was a nightmare, although there are some rts-ish games for console that make use of controller well, like pikmin).

Oh yeah. We have seen plenty of examples where people can out perform kb/m players with a controller. There is a multiple time world champion gunpla painter who outclassed professional airbrush artists using spray cans.

The people acting as if you cannot play any game at a high level without a kb/m have no clue.

none of those players are even close to the top keyboard players.

There’s a reason the console has aim assist built in and the pc version doesnt.

funny how inferior console control is that they gave them a “dodge roll”.

gotta be a troll lol

Nope, never use it. I might manually dodge/pseudo stutter step, or vault out of the way. Never used it when I play wizard or witch doctor either. Whilst I don’t have a super massive friends list, not a single friend has used it in 6 years.

sure, by 0.1%. So, a non-event. That you are making out to be a major event to suit your own personal narrative.

which from my personal experience, no one ever uses. Shall I post a poll over at the console sub-forums?

Supporting controllers on PC

This is the first time a Diablo game is being developed simultaneously for both PC and consoles, but the decision to support controller input on PC is what caused the greater paradigm shift for us. We wanted to give players the ability to switch between the two options freely, so our UI needed to be unified enough that swapping hardware inputs on the fly wouldn’t throw people completely off kilter. A unified UI means our layouts are more grid-based for ease of navigation, but it doesn’t necessarily mean an identical interaction flow.

D4 is build with controller support in mind. So all the “so-called flaw” from D3 that anti-controller conjured will certainly absent or fix in D4.

no it’s just an example of profits cannibalizing gameplay. they’ll eventually kill the IP doing that, and we’ll be the only losers since those in charge atm only care about here and now and their next quarterly sales regardless of the IP’s future.
