Lovely, just lovely. Full-on 7 piece Tal Rasha build. NO Meteor support items (Meteor not even chosen as a skill!), NO mobility skill, NO death cheat. At least it does have the Glass Cannon passive. What a wonderful CR () build for a season start! I expected nothing less. As Haedrig says, “Hope for the worst and you will not be disappointed.”
There’s an easy way to fix the damn things (and deal with the consistently ty builds)–simply allow the full 15 minutes for completion just like an actual Greater Rift. “Oh, but then it wouldn’t be a challenge.” Fine. Then take the CR cache outta the altar so the only players that hafta deal with them are those that want to. I never even so much as looked at the damn things until I got forced to do so for the Altar of Rites. And if I never hafta so much as even look at one a’ them Stupid Build Rifts ever again I’d be quite content.
You know, if a game bothered me so much that I felt I had to come to forum to Rage and Vent because I don’t like something about it, I’d quit playing it. I think most people would.
Why would anyone torture themselves with every season.
I mean, seriously, if having to do one Challenge Rift every season upsets you that much, just quit.
I’m getting tired of seeing these kind of posts every season. There, now I’ve vented too.
I wouldn’t care about the CRs at all if I didn’t need to get a CR cache to complete a MAJOR seasonal objective, i.e., the Altar of Rites. But if I want to accomplish that particular objective, I’m forced to take part in what should be an optional game activity. If I didn’t hafta do the damn things, I’d have nothing to complain about. I love playing seasons, I just have no interest whatsoever in doing the CRs, and I certainly don’t appreciate being forced into doing a game activity that I (obviously) detest.
It’s part of the season though, so either get over it, or as I said, quit. These repeated posts every season aren’t going to change it.
So, the choice is yours, do them and shut up or quit. Pretty simple, yes?
edit:
I don’t like the meta of speed farming GRifts. But I don’t come to the forums to post every 3 months, “Quit making me speed farm GRifts!” because I know it’s not gonna change. See, if I can accept something about the game, then you can too.
I hate running Challenge Rifts. But, every Season since we had the Altar I try to complete it up to a maximum of 3 tries. If I get slapped down every time, I quit and wait until the following Monday night.
I always start with my rebirthed Demon Hunter.
If I fail the Challenge Rift
I start the Season without the currency boost.
I unlock the Altar's Gateway Seal. (Apex)
I unlock the Mirror Seal for the permanent Pools of Reflection XP boost.
I continue with the Season Journey until Monday.
If I fail the Challenge Rift again, I continue the Season without the currency boost.
If I complete the Challenge Rift, I check my currency (Gold and Mats).
If I don't need the currency, I stash the Challenge Rift Cache for the Altar.
If I need the currency, I open the Cache and not worry about the Altar.
If I complete the Challenge Rift
I open the Cache for the currency boost.
I unlock the Altar's Gateway Seal.
I unlock the Altar's Anointed Seal. (Required Level: 1)
I Train my Artisans to Level 12.
I craft a Rare Sovereign Bow at the Blacksmith.
I change the Game Difficulty to Torment VI.
I go to Act III and retrieve Kanai's Cube.
I use Kanai's Cube to upgrade my Rare Sovereign Bow to a Legendary Bow.
The following Monday I'll run the new Challenge Rift.
If I fail the Challenge Rift I continue my Journey and not worry about the Altar.
If I complete the Challenge Rift I stash the Cache for the Altar.
Whatever you decide for your Journey, I wish you good luck and good hunting!
Otherwise, D3 would be a dead game with Trials, no adventure mode, leveling all your gems one at time, identifying yellows, identifying legendaries one at a time, breaking barrels as the main way to gear up, needing to do bounties to get a rift key to get a Trials key to get a GR key that is 10 levels below the GR you want to do.
It was different then and you know it. you know since the game was receiving support back then.
I mean, if they’re not going to add the Altar to NS what exactly makes you think whining about Challenge Rifts is going to change them?
Edit:
Further, people have been complaining about Challenge since there creation, what 5 or 6 years ago. And nothing’s changed. It’s pretty obvious to any with sense it’s not going to change and the constant tears are getting nothing. So stop whining and either live with the Challenge Rifts or quit.
What I quoted you on said nothing about current development or not. It was a blank statement about people coming to the forums to vent and I expressed my opinion I am thankful players have.
There is no current development or future development planned. Could this change? Of course. They have said they would/wouldn’t do tons of things on this game then changed their mind. Great chance of it happening, no. Remotely possible, yes.
I remember players crying for years and years for SSFM. It changed.
Why are you constantly whining about whiners?
This is a forum. It is for discussing the game, dead or alive. I am free to express my opinion on subjects as so are you.
As for CR’s, I do mine start of the season and that’s it. Are they fun? No. Could they be much, much better? Yes.
Just the fact that the NA 368 is being changed (for the better or worse) should tell us something.
Besides that there are still lots of “real” challenges in the game.
Peace.
That’s my point. You do them once, maybe twice a season. Don’t ever have to touch them again but apparently they’re so bad that even 10 minutes out of an entire season is too much?
I don’t buy it. And again, the things that have changed recently was just prior to announcing no further development.
Anyway, yes of course people are going to continue their complaints but I would hope that someday they’ll wake up and realize that thse complaints aren’t doing anything.
There’s more productive things we can do with this forum than being a place to vent about stuff that won’t change.
But you folks do you.
Edit:
As far as them changing a challenge rift after one was already created. I can guarantee it was because some Streamer that has Blizzard’s ear brought a bad CR to their attention and had nothing to do with anything said on this forum.
I mean, the Streamers admit they listen to them more than anything we (forumites) have to say. So how 'bout take your complaints to the Streamers comment sections where it apparently does more good.
That is all dependent on the person. I know people who don’t have all 4 seasonal tabs because they do not want to play seasons even if it only takes 4-8 hours every 3 months to get it. I know players who don’t have the 4 stash tabs because they refuse to spend 10 minutes every 3 months to do an easy set dungeon.
I think the reason for recent uproar about CR’s is the fact they are mandatory to complete the Altar, where before you could play the entire season before and never have to do one.
As for me, I have no problem wasting 10 min of my season doing one, but, IMO, they still are a broken end game activity. There is so much unrealized potential in them, and if there is a thread about it, I am going to put in my 2 cents.
And there are productive threads on the forums. There are threads asking for help. There are plenty of troll threads. There are plenty vent threads.
The thing is, you make the choice which threads you want to enter, read, and post in. If you are not interested in a thread like this, no need to click on it.
You’re absolutely right. I make the choice which threads I comment and I in fact have ignored these threads for years. But the thing is, these threads pop up every season and this forum isn’t exactly a hotbed of activity so these threads get tons of traction and it’s same people posting the same complaints for 5 or 6 years.
At a certain point, someone with sense has to come in and clue the clueless into the fact that it’s not going to change. So again, I will say, you can either do them and shut up or quit.
It’s pathetic of you folks to get each other all riled up over something as insignificant as Challeng Rifts and pretend that 10 minutes out of every season is some kind of torture forced upon you.
Edit:
Hell, I’m tempted to start reporting these threads as spam. What else would you call something that gets repeated season after season.
Well. Just observing the fact that two of the challenge rifts (NA and Asia) were in fact changed shortly after they came up gives credence to the complaints and criticism of the challenge rift concept. In my humble opinion.
