I hate this thing. I really truly hate this thing. I really truly hate all these onion layers of stupid, dumb RNG.
50+ runs in.
Tracked last 40 runs:
Cavern of Frost 6 times. 50% spawn rate, should have 20.
Chiltara 3 times. 80% spawn rate, should have 4-5.
GG 20% drop rate from Chiltara. 0/3
I REALLY HATE THIS THING.
rant over.

Ranting is good for the mental health
I think I got it from my second encounter with her⦠but it took a lot of tries to find the frost caverns. Izual was extremely unwilling to let go of his plan this season. But at least he always shows up.

Wait till you run for the plans. I have done 40 runs to get the plans some times. You need the plans for bracer. It only takes one run. it is the same thing every season. Same crap different season.
I really donāt have a problem with the gemstone. The one I really have a problem with is the rainbow bottle. You spend more time on those items than it takes to do the rest of the altar.

Which is expected, so itās a take it or leave it situation.
That is a huge difference: guaranteed vs weighted distribution.

Let me make sure I understand. You hate this thing, right?

Well said.
I avoid farming for this stuff. What I do is ALSO farm for this stuff. See, I run bounties then when Iām in the area I āalsoā check for this stuff, I truly hate how much I have to spam load just to find IF Chiltara is in the Frost Caves, etc.
ā¦BUTā¦
If Iām doing something else like bounties, then when I find a visions, or a rainbow goblin or staff parts then its a happy bonus. Same effort just some sort of psychological mind flip that makes it a happy moment not a long wait.

Got those around run 30. I start my runs doing all 5 pieces. Got Magic Mushroom like 2nd run, Leoricās Soupbone same run. Got the Plans and the Rainbow same run. In all the Altar seasons, twice Rainbow was last, one the Plans were last, all other seasons, it has been the GG.
Ya, I farm it on T16, that way I do Visions as I pop.
Bout ready to log on and continue my punishment. Will get back to you in a bit.
Yeah, the gemstone sucked for me this season too.
Everything else I got in at least 3 attempts (though shin bone was given to me⦠team mate invited me to his game when he found it).
But I think I had done close to 100 runs for Chiltara all up this season.
At one point, I had icefall caves spawn 15 times in a row!
Luckily Innas monk with 4pc Raimant is zippy so those 100 runs when by pretty fast (like 3-4 nights fast⦠ok, I did a few fissures too as they spawned⦠I wasnāt prepared to have nothing to show for each nightās play - lol).

k. Did 14 more runs. 4 Icefall, 10 CoF. Chiltara spawned 8 times. 1 %&*#ing GG.
After 64+ runs of which I tracked 54 of them:
COF 16 times. 50% spawn rate, so still well below
Chiltara spawned 11 times. 80% spawn rate, so not too far off now.
GG 20% drop rate from Chiltara. Got 1/11
Yes, I can confirm with 100% certainty that I really, truly, fully, with all my soul, hate the GG. Things like this are why I wonāt buy D4.
Blizz core design philosophy #2:
RNG = fun
more RNG = more fun
infinite RNG = infinite fun.
Again, rant over.

I came here to say this. āTake it or leave itā is nonsense when you must to have it to complete the altar.
No I get you. Iāve complained about the same thing before. RNG is one thing, layers of it is not challenging, just unnecessarily annoying.

Iām talking about the bigger picture, not about a detail, like the altar.
Itās well known, itās not unexpected, we know what weāre getting into. However, if one thinks so little of it to call it crap season after season, then perhaps reevaluate if itās worth playing a season at all. Thus take that or leave that.
If one decides to take it, then yeah, theyāll have to deal with farming it. Own it, itās what was chosen after all.

There is a difference between random drops and purposely layering them because you donāt want the players to ever have the item. A lot of game developers canāt tell the difference anymore, the same way they canāt tell the difference between actual difficulty and just stacking the deck.
To put it bluntly: If blizzard doesnāt want us to complete the altar, they shouldnāt put it in the game. If they do, then they need to make it possible. Reasonable.
Making this part of the completion of the altar has never been acceptable because of the fact that the game can just straight up decide you donāt get it at all. The drop rate has been broken for ages and it would only take adjusting a decimal place to fix it. But we still donāt get it.
Said another way: I stop at the staff of herding every season because I know I wonāt get it. I want to spend the season playing the game, not chasing an item I will never see.

I think youāre being too hard on yourself.
Googled Blessed Wrath. One (AI) explanation: āBlessed wrathā generally refers to
a paradoxical concept where anger, judgment, or destruction is deemed justified, divine, or spiritually constructive. It appears in contexts ranging from theological discussions of divine judgment to pop cultureā¦

That is right how many people have said the same thing about the game. On my two accounts on the USA server I really never finish the altar. Most of the times I only finish up to the cache chest.
Plus at this point in the game I really only play to help people. Plus play with clan and friends.
You know the funny part of this. You have a title MVP. The only person you reply to was me. Every time I post something you attack it. The problem is people really donāt like to hear the truth about games. But if that is what you want to do is troll me go for it.
If I get ban for this Iāll just put my big boy pants on an move on. Plus I done with this topic because of people like you. Iāll wonāt even bother reading your reply.

I donāt think they ādonātā want us to complete it. I think they may have shot and missed a bit when aiming for the various goals. Some are super easy, and Iām fine with some being a challenge but ones that are too much RNG⦠no.

The devil is in the details. Why should a player have to āwin the lotteryā to advance the gameplay? They power lies in completing the altar to push the endgame to its highest potential. Go until you are frustrated & then when the reward isnāt worth it, quit until next season. The bottom line is they are ok with people doing this, some earlier than others as long as it meets their goals for engagement with this title. Farming is putting in work for a specific reward, and it is a JOB not a lifestyle, and I for one donāt play this game to have a job. Grinding is a far more accurate term because it wears you down until you give up in frustration. Put a tracker on it like āKill Chiltara 20 timesā as we see in other versions of this game. That way players will actually know thereās a goal and not the frustration of a .001 drop rate.

There are many who farm that node for a while then just quit. Bad enough RNG does make people quit since not everyone has many hours to invest.
I think Leviās point was, big-picture-wise, to ask yourself why you play this game. Genuinely. Because let me tell you, I stopped playing Elden Ring because I genuinely didnāt like it. āBut all my friends love itā so I thought, I should love it too! But I didnāt. It was just frustrating.
And thatās what I see from your posts. You continually express frustration at every turn. So the question thatās begged, is why do you continue to intentionally frustrate yourself? Lifeās too short to be wasting your free time like that.
