just letting the developers know youse should be ashamed for not increasing drop rate. in absoltely discusting how many runs you have to do for it.
not enjoyable content at all.
Optimize your runs:
-
when the bounty list for Act III contains “Cursed Glacier” or (I cannot recall the exact name) another bounty that specifically mentions Icefall Caves - quit the game and make a new one
-
when there is no bounty in this area, do search for the entrance to Caverns of Frost. If you spot Icefall Caves do not even bother going in - quit the game and make a new one.
Repeat as needed.
Just run on T7 it seems to drop more often than higher torments.
The lower the difficulty and your character level the better drops it seams. While leveling to 70 i got the Bone and the L. Rainbow on first try. Stared farming plan and gem today on T4, got gem on 3try, plan on 4try.
They did.
It used to be the low spawn rate of Chiltara multiplied by the low drop rate of the GG, which resulted in an extremely low chance. This is evidenced by the sporadic testimonies claiming that, previously, people have only found 0 to 3 of them during the GG’s entire existence. Previously, I’ve found only 2 in all the years it has existed.
However, Chiltara’s spawn rate is now up to a reported ~80-90%. Meaning, we are essentially up against the drop rate of the GG only.
The near removal of the multiplicative factor is a massive increase in the chance. This evidenced by the sheer number of reports of people finding it the first few days of the season.
After ~5 hours of farming, I found it on the 4th day of a 3-6 month season. Of the 3 people I run with, 2 of the 4 of us found it by the 4th day, again, of a 3-6 month season.
As mentioned in an earlier post, check every game for CoF, even if there is no bounty in the area. If you plan out a route, it takes less than 30sec to run past the 6 spawn locations. If you see the Icefall Cave, stop and remake. The only time you should not search for it is if you see the bounties “Clear the Icefall Cave” or “The Cursed Glacier”.
Its been 4 days. You have at least 4 months, if not more, to get it.
Calm down.
Are you certain? I thought torment level didn’t affect the odds of gemstone drop. I did mine in T16 cause i was farming dbs and gems and other stuff
This is a terrible design. Why is this crap even a part of the game, logout and log in for a crap chance of getting an item that was never mandatory. “I got a great idea for an endgame, lets make people quit and restart their game over and over to get to a place for a chance for a bs item to drop” - genius Blizz developer.
It’s hardly end game.
End game is farming perfect roll ancients/primals, grinding higher and higher augments and pushing to the top of the leaderboards.
This single drop that can be obtained in the first week of the season if one does the work isn’t endgame.
They made it end game when it became a requirement for the altar. Logging in/ out to get the right location for a chance for a drop is crap design. I just hope there’s nothing like this in D4. Every other crap that we have to do for the endgame does not require multiple logout for a crap map.
The alter isn’t endgame because it’s the same for everyone. It’s a set of flat buffs that enhances everyone the same.
That leaves the grind as the variable, and that is what defines the endgame.
It’s fine if you don’t like it. But in the end the process is super simple. Remakes are as easy and fast as it gets when is comes to increasing the chance of getting a drop.
Those who complained about the time gated CR cache have more of an aurgument than these GG complaints.
My friend came to the same conclusion. He farmed the areas with the mats while leveling to 70, he also had no struggle, or needed more than 10 tryes to get everything.
Nobody says anything about logging in/out. Now, THAT would be crap indeed.
No my dude, this gemstone requirement is the only BS that requires players to quit their game log back in to get to a location with a low drop rate. If this is what you call a “variable”, it is the one of the laziest, craptastic variable they have came out with. No one gave a crap about this gemstone before because no one cared or needed this to help them with their build.
I play this game in other devices, my fat butt likes to lie down on the couch and play on the switch.
I didn’t call remaking a game a variable. I called the gear grind a variable and I called the altar a constant.
Previously is irrelevant isn’t it? It’s now a required drop for the season theme no matter its history or what people think of it in non-season.
Man just put on some music or catch up on a Netflix show while you farm it. Distract your brain and it won’t feel like a chore. Took me 4 hours to farm all the mats and not once was I like oMg ItS nOt DrOpPiNg
Ok, the cache may have more of an argument, but you also have to see it on the OP pov, which is legit btw.
For the cache, most players will do that anyway since we all play multiple toons, and even though there is a time wall on this requirement, we can continue to progress our toons and continue to play nomally.
This gemstone, is something else. Most of us are high on our builds and because the theme of this season is the altar, it becomes a requirement to complete.
The issue is amount of BS that players have to go through. A solo player will need to quit their game and restart for the correct map, depending on how lucky they are they may do this multiple times. For the PC its no big deal its pretty fast, for the consoles, this is not fun experience.
Navigating menus and load screens grind is not the same as grinding for primals or gear.
This is the the biggest flaw about this requirement.
Dude, i was playing this on the switch, chilling on my couch with netflix on the background. After 4 hours and quitting a game session, seeing ice cavern instead of the cave of frost multiple times, and then clearing cave of frost multiple times with no drop, this crap got old.
I meant quitting a game and restarting a new one for the cave to pop up, that’s crap. Imagine getting Ice cave for like 8 times.
