Gibbering Gemstone is a mood killer and the devs should be

ashamed. I was having fun this season, now I am dreading logging in every single day to find this item. Why is it such a low drop rate? Why doesn’t the frost cavern spawn every game? Why isn’t the drop rate increased in t16? Why would you make this a requirement to finish the new tree? Why did this make it through PTR? Why?

You’re adding nothing new to the gargantuan heap of feedback on this very matter by making yet another thread.

Because the zone where it can spawn can have only one cave dungeon and there are two options, Caverns of Frost and Icefall Caves.

When playing in Adventure Mode, check if there’s an active bounty. If it is “Clear Icefall Caves” or “Cursed Glacier”, restart session immediatelly.

You can slightly increase your farming efficiency by farming in Campaign Mode. When Caverns of Frost spawns there, Chiltara will then always spawn in level 2. Unlike in Adventure Mode where Chiltara has only high chance to spawn.

I have gotten 6 of them so far: NA SC & HC, Euro SC & HC, Asia SC, xbox SC. Just need xbox HC.

Cuz reasons. It has always been a low drop rate since Vanilla. Rarely are there any threads about it since the Staff is a virtually useless item. Unfortunately, this season it is a required item to finish the altar.

It is a 50% chance to spawn which is fine.

Cuz it would be work. There are a lot of relics from vanilla that have a static drop rate that is not affected by changing the difficulty.

Cuz poor planning. They do a lot of things that look good on paper, but never test it themselves to see if it feels right.

I dunno, this baffles me too. There were so many threads whining about Maddening Questions being a requirement for the altar that it got removed. Either the GG was drowned out by excessive Maddening Questions threads that they ignored the GG threads, or people participating in the PTR did a poor job testing.

no

You did not pray to RNGesuz before playing.

Bait thread but whatever…

:joy::rofl: You guys cry more than Toronto maple leafs fans

Had left WoW to fire up D3 with the wife, and both of us have been really enjoying it. Bought D4 and excited. A month later, post WoW life, we run into this issue and although she gets two back to back, I’m on day 3 of farming this, 10 hours in. Blizz, WTF is wrong with you? This requirement is not necessary, but you know this. If this is the way of things in D4, we’ll happily get our $200 back because this part of the Altar is not only a POS, but it is a gamebreaker for me.

If RNG(including bad RNG) is a gamebreaker for you than get your refund now. That is how Diablo has always been. Diablo II has items that are much more rare than this.

Because the altar was not supposed to be finished in just a few hours. The idea was to make some of the items actually hard to find.

This one I can answer!

It made it through PTR because everyone were giving all the needed altar materials easily from the PTR vendor, so no one actually farmed the altar on PTR.

I assume reason was that they wanted to speed things up (PTR doesn’t last long), and they wanted ppl to get to the part where they can test the effects of altar. Which was sorely needed: znecs with 0 paragon farmed GR150s on PTR with permanent super-condi and shield using blood flask. Downside ofc being that the farming part of the altar didn’t get any testing.

This actually had nothing to do with the issue. People did farm this stuff on the PTR. However the Gibbering Gemstone drop rate was actually overshadowed by the drop rate of Never Ending Questions. You had to farm any set dungeon to get that drop and it was rare, way worse than Gibbering Gemstone. You didn’t have to successfully clear the dungeon, just farm it. I think Raxx and others tested this by doing hundreds and hundreds of runs without a single drop.

Because of that it was changed to 4 Tome of Set Dungeons pages.

Would rather banter about hockey than this boring worthless topic for the thousandth time. Go kitties

Oh, you poor little darling. You’ve had to farm for 10 hours (probably actually only 4 then) and it’s been 2 days? How my heart bleeds for your pain and suffering. I spent the best part of two weeks trying to nail that thing and had to just get on with it as it was obvious they weren’t going to change it.

Finishing the altar is pretty simple apart from the RNG of primal drops and this gem. If they made that part too easy then you’d now be bit’chin that it’s too easy this season and there’s nothing to do and blizz sux etc etc.

As someone said earlier. Get gud.

Found mine today. It took me an hour. Yeah it’s that stupidly random. Being good has nothing to do with it. Nothing you do affects the odds.

The gibbering gemstone is not hard to find though, we know exactly where to find it and who drops it. The ancient puzzle ring is “hard to find” because its a random world drop, but you will get one eventually while doing relevant content. The gibbering gemstone however requires you to run completely irrelevant content, potentially 100s of times.

Someones just grumpy 'cause he’s run out of teabags

You can however significantly increase your chances of getting it in a short time frame.

The GG is entirely RNG as to how long you’re required to hunt it.

About as much of a “moo” d kill as Wildheart Guff decks in hearthstone were. That is what Bliz does though.
