right now since i have troubles surviving in high grs with lod death nova, i’m using rubies in my armor/pants (amethyst in my helm)
i don’t know if amethysts in my armor/pants are better for surviving, what do you think?
anyway i hope one day i’ll be tanky enough for topazes in my armor/pants
No, they’re not.
A necromancer is naturally high in All Resist because INT/10 = All Resist, i.e. you inherit All Resist based on your INT. As your paragon increases, so does your INT and, hence, so does your All Resist.
However, INT classes are always low on Armour (as that’s inherited from STR / DEX). So, the reason you use Rubies or Emeralds in your chest and pants is because they provide a mitigation type that you don’t naturally have.
The armour and all resist are multiplicative, i.e. having higher values for both means you have more mitigation than just having one of them high. You absolutely want the armour for higher content. Only switch to topazes for speed content where you don’t need the survivability, and the extra damage will help you mash through stuff faster.
I see you’re doing it already, but the game changer for me was switching from the enchantress to a templar with (mostly) maxed out cooldown reduction. Instantly changed the dynamic of the build from precarious existence to a lot smoother experience with half the points in Vit that I had before - therefore doing more damage and killing things before they kill me! I am currently doing 149s for gemups on the same amount of vit in gons that I was using for my 130 farming. Not even having to fish for them, they’re consistently quick enough to rely on passing, albeit not quickly.
On that note, how many points do you have in vitality? I’m running with 400 at the moment. Keeps things spicy for higher rifts.
i have 6500 total vit and 1.3 mil life
Looking at my setup for higher rifts, it’s sitting on 6700/1.3M so we’re set up pretty similarly.
Maybe then it might come down to playstyle - if you’re not surviving it might be that you need to be a little more mobile. Unfortunately that means you can’t necessarily sit in one spot and just channel depending on what’s happening on the ground. And/or you have to be more proactive about avoiding attacks from dark berserkers with big hammers, or horned chargers and their kin. Don’t sit in poison puddles from dead accursed either.
I can’t see anything majorly wrong with your gear setup. Though when I was at your paragon levels I was also using Unity, forgoing CoE.
what if i use esoteric instead of trapped?
Try it?! You’ll know whether it helps or hurts in less than the time it takes to read this reply
