Games like diablo 4 you play to pass the time until

that itch, that won’t get satisfied until june…
so until then, would love to get some GOOD recommendations , will update this list.

games that i found close to the diablo experience

D2R
D1
titan quest
sacred 2
path of exile

games that are just nice, but not as satisfying:

torchlight 1 2
dungeon siege series
grim dawn
victor vran/van helsing(not sure which one i played)
Nox

games that are just horrible experience but look like diablo game:

Wolcen
Last Epoch
(both have really incredible visuals, but the gameplay is bad)
shadow: the awakening(was so so , not horrible)

games that are interesting but haven’t tried too much:

Throne of darkness(playing 5 samurais, unique gameplay)
sacred 1
baldur’s gate: dark alliance 1/2

How far back you wanna go? I think there was NOX, but i doubt it’ll work on modern computers. Looks like its on GoG. for under $2.

I have a massive collection of board and tabletop RPGs and a somewhat smaller one for “video games” so, when I get tired of Diablo, I basically just play something or nothing… depends on my lady. We typically will start a board or TTRPG but then not finish it. Still have about 15 more expected to arrive and some of them are enormous (several components/expansions.) Damn hoarding.

finished it twice, was a good game too.
updating.

i personally prefer sacred 1 (underworld)

interesting…I can’t remember if i played/finished it…added

I know there is immortal hate but playing through the story is still fun. Just don’t spend any money.

For me it would be

Tier 1 (in no particular order):
Diablo 1
Diablo 2
Grim Dawn
Sacred 2 (and Sacred 1 I guess, played 2 far more)
Path of Exile (the trading kills the game for me, but I do have to recognize its impressive design in other aspects).
Nioh 1 and 2

No other tiers matter.
Though Titan Quest would be an honorable mention.

Never played Last Epoch, definitely my most hyped upcoming A-RPG right now however. But who knows, might end up being very disappointing.

Played, but dont particularly care for, Torchlight 1 and 2, Dungeon Siege, Nox, Diablo 3,
Wolcen (it did however do various game systems well, so it nearly deserves an honorable mention for that alone, but as a game on its own it went quite bad…), Borderlands series (eh, I liked it at first, but it just has terrible endgame and replayability imo).

Got Shadow: The Awakening sitting somewhere in my Endless Pile.

interesting how many people are not fond of torchlight
i played through TL2 and would consider it one of my favourites after sacred
but i understand that the artstyle is turning people off

Play Diablo 3. I mean play it. Don’t just create a character and get a few hundred paragon points.

i don’t know how it would suddenly start being fun when getting a few hundred paragon points is already boring the brain out of my head

Heck, it just gets progressively less fun after those first few hundred paragon points. When there is absolutely nothing left to do.

Artstyle was fine for me. I even like it. Not much else about it though.
Just nothing that stands out in there imo.
The games I like more might easily be as flawed or more, but each of them felt like they excelled at some aspects.

i might actually now that i think about it start a new character soon

:+1:t2:

#MissingCharacters

yeah i played it ALOT.
after you manage to do lvl 100 GF its just boring…
for me at least.
its nice game, not diablo though. too much wow vibe to it.

Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance 1 and especially 2 are great controller ARPG’s, and are on PC now. They’re a little old at this point, but still a lot of fun, and scratch that ‘kill enemy, get loot’ itch. Even better, Champions of Norrath 1 and 2, but those are stuck on PS2, and sadly are very likely to never be re-released or remastered. Those are fantastic games.

i remember that playing with my friend on ps2 together. was a lot of fun.

I played through CoN 2 just last year, it still holds up. Having to do a series of quests just to get a vampire to bite a hole in your ear so you can equip a second earring is just hilarious and fun game design.

Dragon Age (all of them). Although not diablo clones, but i rather play other style of rpgs too. Last Epoch intruges me, but never felt like it’s worth the early access price. Oh yeah also HoMM3,5,6 and Tiny Tinas. I dable with Grim Dawn every now and then, and D2R attrackts me back occasionly. Same with TL1 and 2.
