Let me preface this by saying: I don’t know much about graphics cards. I’m not interested in spending a ton of money on a fancy new gaming machine just to play a handful of games that I enjoy. I REALLY REALLY want to be able to play this game.
All that considered… So I’m another one getting the insta-crash when I try to run Beta. Yes, I knew my graphics probably didn’t meet the minimum specs but I thought, like others, it would at least run, just wouldn’t look as nice or run as smoothly. Also, my machine is 9 years old and turns out I only have 6gb RAM so I get why it’s not running for me. I knew I was in the market for a new desktop anyway but if I’m looking at new machines I kind of want to know beforehand if this game will actually run on it!
The RAM issue will be easy to solve but I’m worried about the graphics problems. Mainly because I’ve seen a lot of people here saying they have the minimum graphics requirements and it’s still not running. If I’m putting money into a better graphics card it will ONLY be to play this game. Otherwise I can survive just fine with lesser graphics. So just curious what lower end graphics people have actually gotten the game to run on (even run poorly)? Thanks!
Might help if we actually knew what kind of card your system has…
Can you give us a run down on the system specs?
- Processor (model)
- Memory (amount)
- Graphic card (model)
- Windows version
Thanks.
Currently?
Processor Intel(R) Core™ i5-3330 CPU @ 3.00GHz, 3001 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 6.00 GB
I’m not sure where to find specific graphics info other than Integrated Intel HD Graphics and I’m running Windows 10 Home version.
I’m not expecting it to run on this machine though. I was getting ready to purchase a new desktop anyway. But I’d been planning to spend like $600-800 on that. And if I get a new desktop I want it to be able to run D2R but based on what I’m seeing here…I’m not going to go like $1000 over my budget (or even $500 over) just to run a $40 game!
Currently D2R doesn’t support CPU integrated graphics. So yeah. Won’t work on that machine.
As long as you pick a machine with a halfway decent graphics card, you will be fine. Anything with say a 1050, 1650, 2050, or higher will do. You can even get by on something like 800-900 series as well as long as they are x50 or higher. I’m really only familiar with nvidia gear, someone that knows AMD could chime in as well.
You can also look as the recommended specs and choose your hardware based off of that.
I’m running a desktop with a 1660, and its playing the game smooth at 60FPS with max settings.
Thanks. And if anyone would like to chime in on AMD, I was looking at a machine with AMD Radeon RX Vega 11.
Tried to do some research and looks like it’s only a couple years old but maybe a step or two below the minimum required AMD card. Again, I’m terrible with the graphics stuff. Anyone know anything about this one?
That is an integrated graphics for AMD. Those tend to be better than the Intel integrated graphics, but not sure its enough to run a game like this on. The original game, sure. But maybe not D2R or not very well. They call that particular design an APU instead of CPU.
Some websites seem to compare it to be similar to an nvidia 1050. So it might work fine, but I can’t say for sure.
You want to get something with discreet graphics. Meaning not built into the CPU. Some systems have both, and gain a power savings in the process as well.
