I have just recently started playing Diablo 3 and I’m quite a ways into the game. I started playing the other day and noticed that my Barbarian is automatically using fury whether I select to use it or not. This has caused the globe to no longer fill with fury anymore. What would cause this to happen?
Looking at your Profile your skills are not set up in a way that makes it easy to generate fury.

Your left mouse button is bound to Rend (cost 20 fury) and right to Ancient Spear (cost 25 Fury).
Your two fury generators are Leap and Furious Charge which you have on keys 1 and 2. Both only generate 15 Fury per use. Both have a cooldown of 10 seconds so you are generating at most, 30 Fury per 10 seconds. You are spending it WAY faster than that.
Normally people put a skill on the left mouse button that generates the resource then hit the other mouse button to spend it. Select a skill that has no cooldown and generates Fury, even if it is not your highest damage skill.
Think of it like a few fake punches that generate fury to set up a big strike when you spend your fury. Fury spenders have more damage.
Barb will not automatically generate Fury unless Unforgiving Passive (available at level 45 IIRC) is used. It drains over time.
Oops, Unforgiving is at 55.
Ok that is helpul. I was using the whirlwind attack a lot but the last few levels as soon as my fury starts to fill up it immediately disappears again. So I will adjust my assigned attacks. Thanks for the help.
Have fun playing through the campaign and save any legendary item that has a special ability as you can make use of them later in adventure mode even if the item is below your level.
When you get to level 70, finish the campaign and get into adventure mode you should check out the Barbarian forums here for lots of good build advice.
Fury depletes over time, so the less you generate the quicker you lose it.
If you’re using Whirlwind as your main…actually the current season gives you a free Wrath of the Wastes set. There’s an idea…
Or he can explore and create a build instead of following one…
An inferior build that doesn’t stack up against the status quo…
If you are looking to get the WW Rend build going…
The key for beginners is to get the Bul Kathos Paired Blades set…it generates a pile (15?) of fury as a set bonus.
