Frustration, fix?

Is there any news about a fix for the momentum stack and strafe?

it’s really frustrating to play a build where every 4 seconds you have to stop to cast the primary, and if you are among the fools who play N.6.g.4 strafe it’s even more a hammer on grapefruits

The set was specifically designed to work that way. So no, they aren’t going to “fix” that part of it.

I know a lot of people were expecting something like Whirlwind, but that’s just not how this build works. It was specifically designed not to be a Whirlwind clone.

Don’t expect that aspect of the set to be “fixed”. They’ll likely try to address the bug where sometimes momentum stacks aren’t gained properly, but that almost certainly won’t be until next patch (after the season). And that’s a completely separate issue than what you seem to be frustrated with.

You need to fire a primary to proc WoC and 2nd half of F/R anyway. So I’m not really seeing the problem here.

There is nothing to fix, just as TinneOnnMuin already wrote. This Set is just wonderfully designed, imho.

The fantasy of building up momentum by using primary attacks, making these attacks more useful by not only generating hatred (as usual), but make them empower us with more strength, more energy, which we then can use during strafe to kill our enemies more effictevly … is just a great idea, imho

And this idea can also be seen in the optical design of the set, and also in the naming of the seperate items like Mechanical Pauldrons or Gas Powered Automail Forearm

btw. You shouldn’t fire only every 4 seconds a primary. You should do it more often.

Um…technically with WW you ARE forced to cast a manual rend and/or GS and/or Ancient Spear…all of which interrupt WW.

Unless of course you don’t want to progress into higher GR.

GoD working (mostly) as intended.

And you have not read what we wrote.

GoD is not a one-button-build. It is not Whirlwind. It is not “spin-to-win”. It is a little bit more complicated to play, and that’s one reason why it is so popular atm. There are several ways to play this Set, each way offering little nuances to adjust the playstyle.

It is designed that way, and the concept is pretty coherent. Strafing all the way through the rift would destroy the idea behind it.

If you like WW, play Barb.

Not manually casting rend does drop your damage as you don’t get AD procs unless you cast it yourself. For higher GRs, you need ancient spear, which slows the momentum of your WW. You won’t progress further unless you do these things with WW.

It appears you don’t enjoy the play style of GoD6. Nothing wrong with that, not all styles are for everyone. WW or TR seems more up your alley since you made mention of it, so why not just play those builds instead?

With that said, I never understood the reasoning behind wanting to force a build to play like other builds instead of just playing the other builds that they like.

The set is boosting primary skills, in fact, the set is designed for Devouring Arrow, that’s the only ‘‘bug’’ I can see so far.

The Biggest thing I like about the set is the variety of weapons on can use. In my General Discussion thread way back in, my biggest complaint was how Dawn was mandatory and our other weapons was dictated in all other builds we have, severely limiting our weapon choices.

Blizzard didn’t fix Dawn specifically, but they gave us a set that is very flexible in the weapon department as you can use Bows, Dual Wield Crossbows, or use a Two handed Xbow and all the set-ups are pretty well balanced with each other.

So I am specifically grateful for that aspect of the set and proves that the entire thread didn’t fall on deaf ears even though it was from 6 plus months ago.

Um. Hi. I’m a Wizard. Have you ever played Firebird, DMO…actually, we could probably just leave it as “I’m a Wizard.”

Enough said on bad set mechanics.

Btw u dont have to stop to cast the manual generator

U can cast it while stafing just dont bind it to left mouse. Then u can cast it while continuing to stafe.

Try watching dieoxide’s video on binding it to mouse wheel and strafe weaving

Rework the set to this:

  • 2-Piece Bonus
Every 4 second you strafe you gain a Momentum up to a maximum of 20 seconds. Your Primary and Hatred generating skills that are automatically shot when strafing deal 10% increased damage per second of Momentum.
  • 4-Piece Bonus
Strafe Hatred cost is reduced by 50% and Casting it against enemies will automatically shoot up to 2 of your equiped Hatred generating or primary skills, and also give 60% damage reduction while strafing and for 5 seconds after. While Strafing, you gain 8% increased movement speed for each second of Momentum.
  • 6-Piece Bonus
Your primary and Hatred generating skills deal 10000% more damage

The automatic shoted primary skills would also proc Focus and Restrain just like if you would shoot primary skills by yourself, so this means that while strafing which costs Hatred you still proc the set rings both hatred generating and spending skills and you DON’T HAVE TO STOP.
Not to mention that with my reworked version of the set you could actually use Chakram and Elemental Arrow with it if you want…

Right now it’s just like the OP said frustrating to play -.-

Maybe I am missing something here but when do you ever have to stop strafing?

Press the strafe button and the start of the rift and release it at the end.

While strafing press the HA button every few seconds (up to 2 times per second), the firing animation hardly slows you down, and strafing does not stop.

I wouldnt be surprised if they asked the character should auto play the game why should they hold a mouse

Have you tried asking for help instead of wanting to rework the set? This goes for anyone frustrated with it.

I made videos explaining the more refined mechanics as well as a scroll-weaving technique that makes the build super easy to play. We don’t want you to be frustrated with it. I’m sure any of the DH vets here would be more than happy to help players get the most out of the set if they are struggling, but the first step is accepting that this build isn’t suppose to play like WW or TR.

I literaly have to stop every 2 seconds to keep the momentum stacks at 18-20 whole the time, while still keeping up my other “buffs” to keep me alive.
I don’t use any numlock tricks, macros and honestly although the set is “great” for pushing highiest GRs it’s painful to play.
I realy don’t understand how can anyone enjoy it at all, but I guess everyone is happy with not having Fun as long as you can push as high as possible.
Not too mention that this set relies havily on mobs, so if there’s no monsters arround for too long you’re slow as a snail with diarrhea…

Imagine being so inconvenienced by pressing a button every few seconds.

Trust me big guy. Your level of patience is not representative of what seems to be normal here.

Enjoy whatever 1 button build you like most though.

I have never had to stop to build momentum stacks with this build.

I usually press my right mouse button (without releasing it) at the beginning of the rift. As I progress through the rift I press and release the ‘number 1’ key to fire Hungering Arrow (still without releasing the strafe mouse button), every few seconds. When I have killed the rift guardian I release the right mouse button to stop strafing, having completed the rift without having to stop to build momentum stacks. This does not require any numlock or mousescroll or whatever else, just simple button clicks. As a ww/rend barb player, this build is even easier to play than ww/rend.

There are quite a bit of buffs in the game that require you to “refresh” to maintain. GoD6 isn’t different or unique in that aspect. If you have focus and restraint and/or wraps, you’d have to use a generator or a spender every “X” seconds regardless. If you truly look at it, GoD6 isn’t forcing you to use more than what you normally would to proc the standard buffs (1 spender, 1 generator).

WW barbs also have to maintain buffs on their bar, as well as TR monks. GoD6 is also no different in that aspect, literally.

I’m in the same camp as you in terms of not using macros or third party software as that’s against the ToS, however “numlock” has been a tool available for everyone in which blizzard themselves has said they are ok with. Ultimately it’s your choice if you do not want to use it, but the fact remains that if you don’t, then practically all builds require a bit of macro-management from the player. That isn’t specifically a GoD6 issue.

Everybody’s version of fun differs a bit. I personally enjoy the set and the many different variations it provides. I like the mechanics, being able to strafe weave to get a bit more shots etc. I believe for many DH vets, the set mechanics feel familiar from the old days of N6 RoV and/or N6 FoK. Those who played those builds, GoD6 felt right at home with no adjustments necessary.

Prior to this, I played UE MS almost exclusively, despite UE MS not being the top build for a long time. It was also by far the hardest build to push with, to only get mediocre results. I still found it fun. It’s not just about power.

With that said, I don’t share the view point of it being painful in higher GR’s. It’s the easiest build to push with in the since of gathering mobs together and being really mobile without losing any real damage. If all DH sets were equal in power, GoD6 would tie with Impale in terms of ease to push with and by far more fluid than the others in terms of whats required from the player. This is why the set is ridiculously popular right now.

This has more to do with how you’re playing the set, not the set itself. There are many ways around not running out of hatred/stacks.

I don’t think it’s fair to conclude that no one else is actually having fun with something with the only reasoning being because you’re not. Most of the time, frustration settles in when one is having problems with doing something. There are people that can help you remedy that if you choose. Extending the offer to help again

About the mouse scroll “trick”, (yes, I know it’s not a trick), it works for me but the way I have to hold my mouse to do it, doesn’t. Which makes me feel really bad since someone went through the trouble to buy me a new mouse, so I could do it.

So I still just put Hungering Arrow on 4 and press as often as I need to to keep the stacks up. Sometimes that’s twice a second and other times it’s once every second or two.

But as others have said, I’ve never stopped strafing to hit the button. It’s all going on at the same time.

But I also use the Numlock trick for the other three skills on the bar.

On that specifically. It’s cool to me if folks decide for themselves that they don’t want to use the “numlock trick”. That’s perfectly fine.

But using numlock is also perfectly fine and by no means should folks go on and on about it “being cheating” when it isn’t. Blizzard has said so. You don’t need to download anything to do it. It’s hardware that comes with any desktop. In fact, you’d have to go out of your way to buy a keyboard that doesn’t have numlock on it.

So not using it is a personal choice you’re making. That’s fine. It’s also fine for folks to make the personal choice to use it and one side shouldn’t demean the other by calling them cheaters when they obviously aren’t cheating.

And another thing! Quit equating those that use the numlock trick to frickin’ botters. There is absolutely no comparison between the two.

Thank you!
