Friendly reminder to actually unlock Double Primal node

I’m sure I’m not the only one who went days wondering why they haven’t seen a double Primal with the entire Altar unlocked only to realize I just finished unlocking all nodes and not the actual Final Demon/Angel Primal Icon node.

Rip 3 Primals, shout out to General Chat for apparently someone just having bad RNG that actually did unlock it.

EDIT: Yay least I got one within 10 minutes of posting this, go go Visions

An issue to many players probably is that we need a lot of primals to unlock double primals.

Myself I have unlocked the shrine potion node and have ashes for one more potion node (seal) and need one more primal to unlock the third.

A few hours later: playing a handful of GRs this afternoon netted me two salvage worthy primals for the last seals and the “Warning” mentioned below.

Other players will appreciate the heads-up. Hopefully, they will find this thread before they spend too much time missing out on the extra drops.

The last Seal is called Warning. You must click on it and the Sacrifice button, even though there’s nothing to sacrifice, to activate it.

I still have a Challenge Cache to collect and 2 more Primal items to find before I can finish my Altar. So far, I’ve managed to upgrade my Weapon to Primal and unlock 2 of the Potion Seals. I’ve stashed all the items I need beyond the Challenge Cache. Just farming XP and better gear until I can get a Challenge Rift that doesn’t kick my butt.

The image below is from Season 28.

Good reminder.

I’m just here grumbling that since I unlocked mine, I’ve played 5 or 6 hours of mostly running GR95s with little else, and had not one single primal drop. Grr.

Do you need to have all the other nodes unlocked before you can open this one?

Yes. All of them. Including the “potion” nodes, for which you need “Primal Dust”

Thx yeah just found that out as I had another primal drop. Used it on my final potion node and then was able to open it as there are no requirements other than having all the others open. Altar Done!

I poked in here looking to see if anyone else has noticed that since unlocking double primals their primal drop-rate has tanked. I’m going on two days of pretty heavy playing (50-75 GRs run, dozens of regular rifts, bunches of visions of enmity…) the only primal I got was a single (yes, single) from an Act I bounty cache. Before anyone says it: Yes, I am completely sure I unlocked double primals and have gotten a few doubles a couple of days back…but it’s been near barren this weekend.

Unlocked double primals yesterday. Was lucky that intermittent fissures throughout the day netted me the three salvage worthy primals i needed.

Previous day i did even more fissures and only got one primal.

Hopes my keys are around 200 now… time to hit speed GRs again.

That’s rough. I saved my cache on opening day and had the altar complete on Sunday Night. So it really only saved me a couple of hours. Would have saved a few more if I’d remember that I have to keep some sets just for the “set pages” requirement. Took a couple of hours to re-farm up the sets that I had salvaged.

Yeah, bounty caches will give only one Primal, even if you have double Primals unlocked.

And Primals themselves are RNG based. 2 days ago I had back to back GR’s with double’s dropping. Yesterday I was playing much more and got only one drop of Primals.

Good call. The last mask D. Primal is free and all seals must be done to uncover it.
Good call!

Lol was talking about this @ in game chat the other day. Lots forgot

Haven’t unlocked double primals yet, but did 90 - 110s all weekend and did not have one primal drop at all, which is odd. Previous seasons there would be at least one drop per sitting. Especially with also doing quite a few visions, where legendaries rain from the sky!..Nope. Not sure what’s up with that.

That might have been me you reminded lol, thanks!

Yeah it’s kind of weird we have to unlock it with nothing to sacrifice, should just be automatic but oh well I guess we should be trained from unlocking all the others.

Part of what I think throws a lot of people off is that Max Roll in their Altar guide says you “automatically unlock” the final node. Which, I think they meant to imply “you don’t have to collect any mats for it.” But it can easily be misinterpreted as “it becomes active automatically” when that is emphatically NOT the case.

When arguably one of the most popular / important guide and informational resource sites that many streamers and players alike utilize, has ambiguous wording like that, it’s going to confuse a significant portion of the player base.

I had a similar experience but with petrified screams… second one would not drop until last night.

For primals, I ran fissures intermittently over the weekend. On Saturday, I got one towards the end of the day. On Sunday I dropped the last 3 I needed to unlock the altar.

Yesterday (Monday for me), I finally got a double primal from kadala… one quiver that was insta salvage but the other, an Augustines, looks good for an Elemental Arrow build. Something just for fun.

Maxroll people have been hanging around Blizzard employees too long.

I finally unlocked the Altar’s 26 Seals after running Challenge Rift 344 last night. I only have one more Potion to unlock to completely finish it.

I’ve been pushing Greater Rifts, running Bounties and clearing Vision Rifts as soon as they spawn. But, since unlocking the 26th Seal, I haven’t found any Primal items.

(Let’s see if that “posting about it in the forums”  works for me).

If you have loads of bounty mats, resort to crafting set items at the blacksmith. Since you’re crafting a set item, it is by definition a legendary, thus it kind of increments, let’s say, “legendary items counter to get a primal”. Just a suggestion.

Yes. I’ve been doing that too. I just forgot to add it to the list.

Yes. This also applies to upgrading Level 70 Rare items to Legendary items. I’ve been doing that too. (Forgive me if I’ve forgot to mention anything else). Legendary items include:

  • Legendary items
  • Set items
  • Ancient Legendary items
  • Ancient Set items
  • Primal items
  • Primal Set items

Trivia: Did you know (or remember) that Set items used to be called Legendary Set items on the item’s tooltip? Eventually, Blizzard dropped Legendary and just labeled them Set items.

So, two more Primal items and I can complete the Altar. Then, I can have fun just killing monsters and blowing stuff up.
