Frequent Error 1016

I was playing original D3 for about a month with no problems and then recently installed the Reaper of Souls expansion. Since this installation, I have been having very frequent disconnects with Error 1016. I followed all the steps in the Connection Troubleshooting article (Article ID: 99037), but I continue to have the problem. I ran WinMTR with the following results when I experienced another disconnect:

Can you provide any advice? Thanks!

You have a 47% packet loss at hop 2 of the trace with similar losses at subsequent hops.
WHOIS lookup for 96.120.90.49 gives https://whois.domaintools.com/96.120.90.49
That’s Comcast Cable Communications, LLC (CCCS), i.e. your ISP.

It’s time to speak to your ISP, show them this trace, and ask them to investigate the cause of the packet loss within the first hop of their network.

Thanks for replying to my post! It was helpful to learn that the problem was likely on my end. It was probably only coincidence that the problem started when I installed the expansion. This prompted me to do some more testing of my hardware. It turns out it probably wasn’t my ISP, but rather an Ethernet cable that needed to be replaced. So far, things have been going smoothly with the new cable.
