The D3 team is very small.
I’ve written numerous times the best course of action for the longevity of D3 is releasing it for modding. Let us make D3 the way it should be.
The people who would continue to support D3 with proper patch notes for many years to come are there. They don’t want any money for that. Let the D3 community enjoy what modders can do with the game.
D3 as of now has constant and recurring problems and these would not exist if it was opened for modding since there are many dedicated D3 supporters ready to invest in it.
If modding is a big issue for the company, simply change the D3 monetization model with micro-transactions and hire new people to implement what PoE has already offered to its player base - private servers with adjustable game variables. Let the players have fun with the game.
