Forum Trust Level Requirements

I see that there was a major addition (50+) to the ranks of forum posters with trust level 3 status. What are the new requirements?

TRUST LEVEL 3

Get to trust level 3 by…

  • Must have visited at least 50% of last 100 days
  • Must have replied to at least 10 different topics
  • Of topics created in the last 100 days, must have viewed 500 topics
  • Of posts created in the last 100 days, must have read 20,000 posts (both starting posts and replies)
  • Must have received 20 likes, and given 30 likes.
  • Must not have received more than 5 spam or offensive flags (with unique posts and unique users for each, confirmed by a moderator)
  • Must not have been suspended (including forum suspensions or in-game account actions of any Blizzard game)
Sticky post at the top by WyomingMist has the info…
I know of no changes, but a lower read post count would be good…

That information is either out of date or there was a forum glitch.

That info was accurate when these forums rolled out last July and was based off the Overwatch rollout - which has way more posters.

Since then they have modified ours to be more reflective of the lower traffic and post rates.

It seems they recently modified it again. I know there was a forum software update yesterday for WoW and OW, but did not know if that happened here too. Maybe?

Bottom line is that we don’t know what the exact requirements are on the D3 forums right now, just that they are lower than what WM posted last year.

Well in that case, the post should be updated with accurate info. or removed…

I think there must have been. The 50+ new TL3s were added 17 hours ago. For one of them, the forum member had read ~3.3k posts.

P.S. The likes given are also on a 100 day rolling average apparently.

This one is funny to me. You know who likes to flag posts, people that disagree with you (and henceforth call you names such as troll, etc -which is ironic cause someone calling another person a troll is itself inflammatory and trolling) - basically strive not to have an opinion here, especially if it’s unpopular.

The posts with flags have to be confirmed by a moderator. If it is simply unpopular (but civil and in accordance with the code of conduct), it should be fine.

Haha, I have little faith that moderators will do a decent job at that. Mods are biased and subjective w their rulings and they let too many things go until posters have to defend themselves cause they’re tired of being insulted.

A laughable requirement imo.

There have been some manual changes in titles and permissions too from what I see. Not going to comment on that though. Asking a few questions. Let me see if I can get any public answers.

Thanks. It would be nice to know the requirements now.

Not sure they will tell us. What you can do, if you want, is go look at the activity of each of the new folks and see what they have in common. See if you can find the lower limits on reads/likes/days visited. I know post count is not really part of it outside the first couple posts.

For read count, there is a new TL3 with 3.3K and another. For topics viewed, there is a 218. I’m just peeking at names that I do not recognize

Ok, that is one data point. I know you have not parsed all that info yet! Your best chance at getting an answer is sorting it out yourself based off patterns.

And yes, they did lower requirements. I have that confirmed from contacts now.

Edit - I am going outside to read on the deck with a glass of wine. Your homework is an analysis of all the new folks and what you THINK the limits are. Preferably in a nice table format. Or not :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m guessing 200 topics viewed and 3,000 posts read (100 day rolling average) with the other requirements left unchanged with the caveat that likes given are also on 100 day rolling average.

30 posts read per day? That would be very good if true. I’ll make some likes and we’ll see if I reclaim TL3.

I can make the likes in steps - 10, 20, 30 - so we see whether they changed this. It was 30 before.

I’m still TL3 so I’m not going to grab my pitchfork :trident: and torch :fire: today.

That said, I’m glad if the requirements have been reduced to a reasonable level (e.g. 3k reads every 100 days instead of 20k). I consider myself active on these forums but I don’t have time everyday to read 200 posts worth of D2 vs D3 vs D4 complaint threads just to meet the quota.

What is wrong with these people? No body has time for this! This reads like part of the job description of a CM.

As one of the silly geese who had TL3 prior to this apparent change, I would ask myself that every day

Would be great if we could get some confirmation on what the new trust level requirements are so I know precisely what hoops I have to jump through to keep TL3. Won’t hold my breath though :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Yeah, I did not get an official answer. Just confirmation that the TL3 levels were adjusted.

Basically, if I am right in my assumptions, they want a certain percentage of the active poster base to have TL3. In OW where they first deployed this software, the participation rate is HUGE. So many posters. Same when they did WoW. D3 on the other hand is a pretty quiet place so you don’t even HAVE X number of posts to read.

This is for the best and it will continue to change based on participation rates. I think.
