Hi all,
It seems like Blizzard changed some things with the forum. Do you like the changes?
I thought it looked a bit odd at first, having the category below the title instead of to the right.
Took me a few minutes to figure out what was different.
Did anything else change?
Just create a D:I and D4 forum and I will be happy.
It happened in the early hours of the morning yesterday (UTC) I think, as I was reading the forums and it changed part-way through going through the unread threads. In addition to the Suggested Topics underneath a thread you’re reading now including the name of the sub-forum they’re in, I’ve also noticed some threads being narrower than others. I’m wondering if those have been started by people on mobile rather than PC-based browsers.
Useless fluff changes that make no difference.
Give us a proper Ignore function that hides both posts & threads of ignored so we don’t have to rely on Adblock anymore.
And give us back the downvote button while you’re at it.
Not likely to happen.
I can confirm that yes, something DID go through for changes. Most are not public though. They are tech changes that don’t impact users. No, I don’t have a list.
Also, this thread was awesome because it let me know and my CS MVP lead know changes happened today!
No. Forum is still spammed with D4 trash talk from D2 fanboys.
I just received some pop-up that I can send PMs. Someone found out how (I guess by opening other profiles and clicking somewhere there, but I can’t find this place lol)?
There is a new Discourse auto message that pops up if you message one person a lot. It suggests you use a PM feature instead to carry out a one on one convo. Discourse as a whole does have that feature as an option but that is not enabled for the version Blizzard uses.
I am aware of it so it means someone somewhere brought it up already. I don’t think there are any plans to add a PM feature on the Blizz forums. If people want to PM someone, they can add them on the Launcher to Bnet friends and if the other person accepts, they can PM each other.
Didn’t they say months ago that some juicy forum changes are coming (like whole new features and stuff)?
No, they did not. If you can find somewhere saying that, feel free to link me.
The “biggest” thing the posters got in the last year was the Ignore feature, and then the ability to perma Ignore. Most changes were on the Blizzard side that we don’t see.
I am 100% sure they had, I just can’t remember where did I read it.
The changes have not been drastic enough that I noticed. The only thing I see changed is the icon for my user preferences.
Major forum changes would mean updates to every forum for Blizzard and I would think I would have known about it. They don’t tell me much ahead of time, or even in real time, but usually HUGE forum changes I get a warning about from the CS MVP lead. If I know nothing, chances are there is no “big juicy update for players”.
A new Battle.net version is coming - it might have integration with the forums.
It does not that I know of. The Beta has been out and available for the public for a long time. It changes the UI some but not functionality.
So again, no, there are no major forum changes coming. Those happened when we switched to the Discourse software. Such a major change is not going to happen soon. They will continue to refine which features of Discourse we use, but that is about it.
Reminder that the only “major” change we got this year was the Ignore feature being enabled.
It would be cool if they add forum integration in the Bnet launcher. They can add stuff like:
Lots of stuff they can do to motivate more people write in the forums.
