Forgotten Souls

Wow guys you never cease to disappoint and I have been playing your game from the beginning. Forgotten Souls 50 a pop to use and literally a crapton of time spent to get enough to make a difference. by a crapton i mean like 2 1/2 weeks to get 5000 and at 50 a pop to try and get a primal or a ancient so you can really start to have fun with the game since you have to have ancient gear to even enhance it with gems . I went thru 500 and not even an ancient. you might want to gear the game a little more toward the people working jobs that pay for these games . Not a ton but at least make it reasonable . I brows the leader boards and look at the gear and defiantly something is out of kilter and I honestly think you know what I am saying. between that and the trolls telling people to set it to Torment 1 and kill all the bosses in Rifts when you don’t even get 1 ancient by doing that to get forgotten souls. plain and simple the drop rate on Forgotten Souls is way to low . time spent is not justified . And players saying otherwise are not working a full time job. Enough said … and of course just my humble opinion. Thank you for your work on the game but maybe you should take another step back and see the game from others prospective.

I hear yeah. I go through that every time with Kadala. How many blood shards to get a ton of yellows and blues. Now granted every great once in a while I get the legendary I want, especially an ancient. Again, that’s every once in a while.

The cube is no different. Last season awarded a ton of bounty mats. I tore through them just as fast as my forgotten souls. I rarely got an ancient I wanted and when I did, it was a dud. I settled for a dud. I had better luck upgrading rares to legendaries. I had better luck running rifts and greater rifts. After a while, all I did was rifts and greater rifts.

The real rub that will put a salty tear back your eye, lucky people. Yup, those people that get what they want and when they need it via every avenue in the game. You struggle with getting ancients in the cube and they get gg primals. You have the hardest time finding that one legendary item so you can play the game, they have a stash tab filled with them. That’s D3 for you.

By this point of the season I can run GR90s solo in 2-3 minutes per run, depending on map / mob type. At that difficulty the guardian drops the maximum number of loots available, which is 12. Let’s say that’s an average of 2.5 mins per run, with a 10 minute break, that’s 20 GR90s an hour, which is 20 * 12 = 240 legendaries an hour.

For every 400 legendaries…
1 in 400 = primal = 15 souls each = 15 souls
40 in 400 = ancient = 3 souls each = 120 souls
359 in 400 = legendary = 1 soul each = 359 souls

That’s an average of (15 + 120 + 359)/400 = 494/400 = 1.235 souls so if you earn 240 legendaries an hour, that’s 296 souls an hour. Also, primals are 1 in 400 legendaries so, on average, at that speed you’d get one every couple of hours.

Not sure what you’re talking about here. Most everyone is speed-farming T16s, what would be the point of running T1?

I agree that RNG can be frustrating, and the FS cost of reforges can feel steep. Hang in there though - you’ll, eventually, get what you need. And stop trying for primals - they’re just glorified ancients and barely ever have the right rolls anyway.

An ancient weapon is usually a much needed upgrade, but the rest of the slots? Nahh…Optional for enjoyment of the game. Let those come through drops during the normal game play loop. You absolutely do not need to waste all your materials trying to force an ancient in your armor slots.

It’s still early in the season. Why waste mats reforging at this point when something better might (most likely) drop on your next GR? I only reforge after getting all ancients through drops or Kadala, then maybe try for a primal with an extra item (not an ancient I am wearing).

I’m already done with this season/game till the next one and I’m sitting on ~5k souls since I rarely reforge and only as a last resort.
As a full solo player I’m always low on bounty mats so I can’t reforge that much.

By the time I finished my goals and got up to GR 132 on my HC Necro I had 12 Ancients with my Bone spear build and had a full Ancient LoD Mage T16 speed build which I wasn’t even aiming for.
Only gear piece I couldn’t get with proper-ish Ancient rolls is the set helm, that just refused to happen no matter what I did so I just settled with a non ancient.

Got everything from either Kadala or drops from speed farming GR 100 for leveling gems.
My only reforged Ancient was my weapon, around ~60+ hours spent on the char in total.

The problem is instead of having a reasonable drop rate for the things everyone wants they added all these second chance mechanics. Then they made the things people want drop even less often to keep them pushing that lever in hopes of getting enough to survive. Then they added ancients and primals like a nummy treat to keep you starving in the skinner box until you die. It’s cruel really.

I would never tell you to play Torment 1 to get souls. I’m in the same boat as you and recommend non season. Play it casually and over time you’ll have a crap ton of souls. I believe you’ll average 13 leg drops in GR 90 and above and ancient drop should get you 3 souls. So you’re probably looking at around at least 16 souls per run.

Even with mediocre gear you should be able to speed clear a GR 90 in five minutes so the souls will start piling up.

I’m surprised you haven’t complained about bounty mats.

You can’t augment regular legendary items, fyi. Which, all told, at just rank 100, is worth another ~35% damage increase. So yeah, you kinda do need ancient armors.

Yep, when it comes to reforging it’s always a lack of bounty materials that stops me, never the souls.

That much is true. However I was addressing this:
