I have been playing a Witch Doctor (HARDCORE SEASON) and have a Templar as a follower. It is really hard to find gear to match Templar needs (Strength). Normally I just found gear with intelligence.
Create a strength based class?
There is a feature called the cube.
Just do a few bounties for the mats to reroll with strength character.
hi rod…
if all you’re trying to do is switch the mainstat of the item/items from int based to str based. just roll a lv1 barb/cru and use the enchanter to re-roll int to str, using the lv1 alt.
all the best.
Why would anyone use the templar anymore? If you use a follower that does not have the same main stat as your hero, you will need to create another toon. Give the item to the 2nd toon, change the stat and give it to the follower. I will be running a monk which is Dex, I will also use Lyndon as the follower he is also Dex so I am good to go. No need for me to create an alt just to change the main stat.
Why even waste your time gearing up a follower, I mean they are still not able to do the damage you can do. So what’s the point if you play solo and they can only under perform. Pretty much useless IMO
Some of the new skills they have is influenced by their mainstat. Not sure how much it matters, but people will always min/max.
If they are going to allow us to fully gear up followers than don’t just make certain items usable. Make the game more fun and let us use all attributes on all gear on followers. Just saying
Some of their new skills have more powerful effects or last longer based on the value of their main stat. It’s been established in other threads that having a minimum of 25,000 main stat on your follower is sufficient to maximise the effects. Thus, having the correct main stat on follower items is now important if you wish to have the maximised power / duration on their new skills.
Did you even bother to read the descriptions of the skills that have a time based on main stat?

It is not nor has it ever been about your followers damage, it is about the buffs your follower gives you and some of them have a time frame associated with them. The higher the main stat the more time.

Many of us would rather have a 10 second buff over a 5 second.
Probably to be able to utilize different followers for different purposes? I guess you can stick with one follower, but I imagine many others would like to find some use out of all the followers.
there should be a feature to roll for your follower and not for your main character
so you could change dex to strenght
and not have to create another strenght character
i like to play with the monk solo and use the strenght follower but gearing up is hard cuz it is an dex character
Not quite, the way the change was made left each follower with a different function. the templar was designed to increase robustness and healing power, ideal for larger speed cracks.
Scoundrel focuses on increasing attack power while the Enchantress is more balanced with interesting skills for pushing larger slits.
A feature would be interesting to avoid creating another character, or reborn another character, especially when all the slots are filled, and for those who have a full chest there are certain disorders.
It would be a simple feature where the mystic could make a mere exchange of an item with main attribute as strength and give two options of exchange dexterity or intelligence, that is to say a very limited exchange
Here’s a “for instance”.
I play DH most of the time and utilize vault extensively. Especially with Rift Guardians I can use the Templar as a block/barrier to the RG by vaulting to the opposite of him from the RG. This may not give me much additional damage, but the hold on the RG is priceless.
Still not a major improvement IMO
Follower full-gearing just exposes the pidgeon-hole design of the current loot/item system.
