Follower Proposal & crafting mat pick up

We have the set items to offer bonuses to the Death’s Breath & Keystone drops, why not consider buffing crafting materials with a set bonus to equip on a follower?

Also, can we please get pets to automatically pick up these mats?

I want buffs, buffs and buffs and don’t require me to do anything.

Just hold down button for the game to do everything for you. Must be fun AF lol :rofl::rofl:

This new Meteor set is indeed fun to play. All you have to do is press one button and everything on screen dies. Even bosses die before I press any buttons.

Untill they don’t. And it’s not fun anymore :sob:

Just jumped from T7 to T11 and everything still dies instantly. At least exploding worm guys can almost kill me now.

Guys the op asks for a follower set that increases mat dropped, it won’t be game breaking.

The pet suggestion has been made before, but unfortunately the devs don’t seem to like that idea at all.

When doing bounties and group rifts with random groups the pet idea would be something I would appreciate as the speed is such that all drops are left on the ground, a bit of a shame.

AHHHHH. Oh man, I was talking about the Asheara’s set being able to keep all three followers summoned permanently. What if that was a follower set? Or at least an emanating one? That one follower could call on the other two. That would be sweet, especially if all 3 followers stay till death, unless they are immortal of course. Talk about calling on reinforcements.

Yeah, double the yellows at least would be nice. I run out of those too fast. Of course, I use the cube to swap out the whites and blues, it would be nice to get more yellows. Maybe add that to the sage set. OR QoL change a legendary item that doesn’t have any special ability to double yellows or even all crafting materials found and that can be an emanating item for the follower.

Heck, if you could some way, somehow, allow all three followers, then maybe change 3 legendary items. One for yellows, one for blues, and one for whites. Each follower could have one of those items. Talk about a major improvement to solo play. To double all the crafting mats, you would have to use 3 items. So, it’s not a gimme or automation.

Groups will still happen for bounties, GRs, and ENs. It’s not like it will kill the group dynamic of D3.

It’s quite a disbalance between DBs and the other Mats. You end up having 10x more dbs than anything else. Especially with the angelic crucible you get so much DBs and Souls. It’s good.

This is tired and stale. That is the second thread on the same subject in the matter of two days only. Seemingly someone likes to open the very same thread over and over. You imagine, one should at least take a peek at similar threads that appear when typing the title of the thread. I can’t tell for sure.
But I can lay down a few reasons why developers refuse to add a pet that auto pick up mats:

  1. Removal of Choice: When player sees a piece of item they have full control to choose between pushing with full benefits of their buffs and kill streak or picking that item to risk losing it all. While game was already easy from the get-go by power creep, you asking to remove the only struggle the speedfarming has.
  2. Gotta go fast: Having to pickup important loot are the punishment for speedfarm specs that head for high efficiency to clear content. Speedfarming builds supposed to have some real backdraw else their use would be promoted to determine the standards. However, that’s a video game, no one has to fit a standard to enjoy it or get in a race.
  3. Build diversity: Auto-pickup of crafting mats removes a portion of punishment from running speedfarming specs. You supposed to have a backdraw, even for speedfarming builds. Otherwise those specs would be promoted at the long run, which developers want to avoid to ensure build diversity. Your slow hiker GR push build should be able to enjoy a public speedfarm session and don’t get outed from the group because it can’t keep up or slow things down.
  4. Disincentivizing player: Any crafting material you pick up from the ground can be crafted or transmuted into a high grade Legendary or Set item. Gold and Bloodshards do not offer such thing; gamble don’t give you a Legendary or Set item with a fixated ratio.
There’s a reason that you pick up materials manually, so you wouldn’t quit picking up looted items after a while to beeline and stack materials.
  5. Loot picking sim: You’re complaining about picking up loot in a loot picking simulator. Just bind force move to mouse wheel slides to roam and click the loot. In a single click you vacuum materials from 40 yards already. It only becomes a tedious duty when you’re in a secret level or gotta-go-fast in a Neph Rift. Those tasks are not the entirety of the game either. While fights only last for a few clicks on T16 and frantic clicking at high GRs, you’re trying to do a bargain about removing a few more clicks from each fight.
  6. Monotonous flow: There’s a game mode where you don’t pick up anything and just move forward, it’s called Greater Rifts. Instead of wishing entire game to offer a similar experience to the end game challenge, you can go ahead and play the Greater Rifts yourself. This is at least the thoughtful thing to do. If entire game depends on moving forward, it only would make it easier and burn out the player way early.
  7. Decades passed: After years this change hasn’t applied in the least or shown a glimpse. Even after a decade their pillars of design seem to stand for the balance. Game being a decade old doesn’t affect their decisions, nor it has to change any time soon. Community Managers come up with their weekly and monthly reports, and apparently this change is always got a skip from designers and developers.

I believe we won’t see OP reply to anything here though. But we will have tons of people who advocate this change no matter how long developers stood their ground. Because why not? Have a seat and enjoy the show.

You don’t know that. Anyone dashing into Vault or Whimsydale where those crafting materials drop in abundance would find it pretty much very effective.

I’ll pass on having the pets pick up mats. They already miss a ton of gold when you are speed farming. It would really suck to have them missing dbs, souls, or other mats, since they can’t keep up with gold, they will miss even more if things are added to their duty list.

I would much rather just have mats added to the auto-loot list that already has gold and blood shards on it. This way, you are not dependent on the pet AI to pick it up and it also gives some actual value to pick-up radius. I know people will say reward loop blah, blah, blah. Picking up loot is fun and engaging because it could be a potential upgrade. Picking up mats is just tedious.
