Hey guys so let me just break down the issue real quick:
20% of follower gold find is “added” to “our” bonus.
In T16 by default we get around 7000% + Gold find. The 20% bonus from followers adds to that. To put it in perspective, stack a whole bunch of Goldfind on follower and you might get a ~40% bonus that adds to that 7000%+ making it utterly and completely negligible.
From OUR NON-FOLLOWER, CHARACTER GOLD FIND this base amount is multiplied. So basically whatever gear we have equipped multiplies the amount we get from torment amount + very very small amount from followers. This amount will easily change your total gold find amount from 7000%+ in T16 to around 20000%+ or even more depending on how much you have.
So, basically only gold find equipped on your non-follower personal character is of any use. Followers need to have this mechanic updated, adjusted so that either the ENTIRE amount of their gold find is added to the base value, or the 20% amount is added to your CHARACTERS MULTIPLYING GOLD FIND %.
If you feel like it you can easily verify all of this by equipping/experimenting with gear and looking at the sheet values, as I did.
TLDR; Gold find on your follower is virtually worthless. The mechanic is possibly not working as intended. Only gold find on your non-follower character does anything significant.
All mechanics matter. Many people just like myself are spending time and effort into adjusting their characters, depending on their builds. It is all the more important now that followers add options to solo play which can be heavily influenced by gold find. So yes, it’s important just like anything else. They put all this effort into updating followers and they should fix this mechanic too.
Rez, buffs from their abilities, emanate gear abilities (which influences gold find potentially), and the bonus exp/magic find/gold find we gain. It can have a significant effect on solo gameplay, as they intended it to with this most recent update.
Did you check all of the emanate features you now get from the follower.
They are useless for damage but great for a few other things.
I would not call this useless:
New Skill -Night’s Veil
The Scoundrel launches a cloud that covers a 20-yard area and lasts 5 to10 2 to 4 seconds based on the Scoundrel’s Dexterity. All attacks against enemies that are inside the cloud will be critical hits.
I guess I’m not playing at a high enough level or something, but I use Emanate abilities, guess I need to play more.
Thanks for the info!
That’s been my mistake then, as I have always been looking for some form of damage boost or similar, thanks for the info, I will change my follower gear accordingly.
I’m loving the learning curve and still being new, but I do come across as clueless, probably due to that actually being the case!
Thanks for the info and the link, it’s appreciated.
Followers were utterly useless.
Now they have a use when farming DBs, gr keys, gems. For example in a t16 rift.
When it comes to damage or pushing grift, followers still are utterly useless. Yes, nice that follower cheat death. Doesn’t get you to a higher gr level though.
I do hope they can be used in the future for pushing gr, to close the gap between group play and solo play. Without affecting group play.
When farming Rifts, create a gold build for your character (Mine’s at 50K).
For your Follower, Add Rings (Avarice & ROG), The Flavor of Time, Nemesis Bracers, Broken Crown, and gear for Extra keys & DB’s.
You’ll get all the Mats & Gems you can handle.
If you Empower Rifts, you’ll never run out of Gold either.
One thing I think people are really missing is, in addition to the effect of Nemesis Bracers to spawn more elites, you can also add Custerian Wristguards to either your follower or yourself to make all gold value also give you that amount of EXP. When you have it cranked super high, you’ll see some pretty decent EXP from T16 rifts in particular. Your bar will move up even at 1000 paragon.
Also if you’re using the Goldwrap + Boon of Hoarder combo, it adds quite a bit to your survivability, particularly in those moments where it’s been a few seconds since you last killed something and you just picked up some gold.
I have to stop you right there, akin to how I’ve hard to stop multiple uninformed posters.
Custerian Wristguards gives 1 XP for every 1 gold dropped. Not from quests. Not from GR completion bonus.
Additionally, it does not benefit from the native XP boost in any shape, form, or fashion.
My account has acquired 54 billion gold over the course of the entire game - Not on a single character mind you, but on every character I have ever made, and not in a season, but since D3 was first released and you could easily cycle through billions of gold on the RMAH.
If every bit of that gold had been converted to XP - It would not be enough to boost my paragon by a single level.
As it stands, Nemesis Bracers will yield significantly more XP from the extra elite kills then Custerian EVER could.
If you are using Custerian instead of Nemesis bracers, you are hindering yourself by quite a bit.
Well, they allow you to use the power of Time of Flavor without equipping them so you can equip Squirt Necklace for more damage, at least four some build that can use FoT or Squirt Necklace.
But yeah, hope that the next patch will allow the follower to use LoN rings and legendary gems to increase their battle prowess.
Set up your Templar like the one on this account, and you’ll never lack for anything.
Note that the blank Jewelry Cube slot on the character is the RoRG.
Note that to benefit from the Avarice Band, you’ll need at least a Rank 10 Boon of the Hoarder gem equipped. Thus the wisdom of a separate farming build. The build currently displayed is my GR build.
Note that with a rank 50 Boon of the Hoarder, you will be able to complete the Avarice/Avarita Conquest just through normal farming activities.
Note that the Follower Lifesaver ability with its two-minute cooldown will work in conjunction with the character’s passive Lifesaver with its one-minute cool down, so that in Hard-core you’re pretty much safe to continue no matter what happens. If you’re a cautious player, you can dispense with the passive Lifesaver and slot another more beneficial Damage/Toughness passive.
Of course gold find on the follower is practically useless as it is the same for the main toon. Some edge cases aside such as using Custerian to mad-advance a low level (even then its not so great.)
Other than the 1-70 levelling process, no one, absolutely no one, is running bounties and neph rifts of any torment level for experience. The gains are virtually non-existent compared to GR’s. And adding Custerians just makes those gains slightly less non-existent. You want to do bounties and NR’s as fast as possible so you can get back to GR’s, which is where the real gains are. The Warzechian Armguards for extra movement speed are a better option.
