Would it be worth it to augment the followers gear now? Considering the skills will be based on the main stat.
Just speculation of course. But I don’t think Blizz will set the limit that high for followers to have the full effect on their skills. I think mostly ancients (with follower’s primary stat of course) will be enough. But again, just my speculation. PTR will be open in less than 12 hrs? so.
I fail to see how tossing 14 equipment slots at followers would help them bear GR150 damage without invulnerability tokens but we’ll see. Perhaps augments prove me wrong as they have 2.5x benefit from main stat bonus afterall but I still have doubts when they don’t have half the buffs that our characters have.
If there’s a build that would allow them to endure very high damage spikes I’m willing to bet their equipment will be pretty much tightlocked into String of Ears and Eye of Etlich. High regen could work too but requires at least one immunity amulet and a semi-permanent pet summoning (Genzaniku, Maximus, Pus Spitter) item.
As an example will we know if we are at 3 or 7 seconds. Let’s say we are maxed out on the Dex with gear and we receive the buff for 5 seconds, will augments bring it up to 7 seconds?
Vanish
- When you take fatal damage, the Scoundrel conceals you from enemies for 3 to 7 seconds based on the Scoundrel’s Dexterity and prevents your death.
Each character can conceal you away from fatal damage now as I read it. I guess developers want us to augment followers now that people can’t get enough of repeating Greater Rifts for the foreseeable future.
Loothunt is still cut abruptly as there’s zero incentive for player to replace that invulnerability token anytime soon as followers never be able to deal serious dps. Unless they changed something major, we’re not really looking at a ground breaking deal, even if they did, the game still underhandedly funnels you to same treadmill. So what exactly breaks you off from the lure or the linear growth?
I’m just bitter here, because I had high hopes for Talisman to return to the game but after seeing resources spent on giving 14 item slots on zero dps followers, I don’t have that anymore. I made suggestions about keeping Followers’ role mellow without pushing them to be a part of grinding process and adding Talisman but I guess they’re not interested in the least. Greater Rifts simply overwhelmed the entire game and there’s no way we can break it evenly.
This one looks good, I would much rater have the 5 additional seconds if augments can expand the time.
Night’s Veil
- The Scoundrel launches a cloud that covers a 20-yard area and lasts 5 to10 seconds based on the Scoundrel’s Dexterity. All attacks against enemies that are inside the cloud will be critical hits.
I would guess to get the max you would need something similar to what you would need for highish GR’s. By highish I mean like when you need mostly ancients, that way it is like saying OK you need to do loot hunt until where your own would become rare to replace. That way the follower gets fully geared roundabout when you reach that “OK sure the item I need dropped but it is probably not better than what I have” stage of a season.
But augments could be a way to overcome playing with a follower that doesn’t share your main class or some less than great rolls. Probably worse than making a level 70 character of desired stat and making love to Kadala though.
I really wish that the stats will be more impacted to follower’s skills whether thru duration or the damage bonus ( 10% damage to enemy changed to 15% damage to enemy due to high stat scaling and etc) so we have the reasons to give them ancient gear with augmented.
Dumb question. Which is better on a follower?
Gloves of Worship = Shrine affects last 10 min
Or
Flavor of Time = Pylon affects last twice as long
It’s not an either or though, as in you can have both if you so choose to, being glove and amulet and all. But strictly between the two, FoT hands down. Shrines are no where near as powerful as Pylons, and after certain point (which comes quite early in the game), you don’t need extra time on shrines as you plow through T16 (which is the highest level you can get shrine effect).
As for continuing on with the topic. I didn’t see popular streamers make a vid yet, but it seems all you need is 25k main stats for follower to get the highest benefit (note, followers get x2.5 boost from main stats). So I don’t think augment is really necessary.
Shrines and Pylons are not the same so if you use both you are covered.
- However if you could only use one, FoT would be my choice.
This is what’s great about the followers now. We no longer need to use the items on ourselves or in the cube. The follower now acts like an extended version of the cube.
