Does the Energy Twister produced while using Disintegrate with Etched Sigil really not count as an effect to deal extra damage to ignited foes from Firebird’s Finery? Do they count as pets or something?
In general FB does not work with auto cast spells.
We have to cast the spells in order to get the effect.
The Firebird damage is effectively a proc, the skills themselves don’t do any damage, they are just for proccing the damage. As the standard rule says, “procs don’t proc procs”. The Twisters from the Etched Sigil are procs themselves so it makes sense that they won’t work with FB.
A shame, really. FB would be amazing if Etched Sigil and Deathwish together worked with it.
IE it would be great if the Blizzard devs stopped hating cleverness.
But they do hate cleverness. A GOOD game developer would let the Etched sigil tornadoes proc FB 6 piece. Therefore we must conclude that Blizzard developers are in fact quite bad and don’t like the player.
They could pretty easily fix this - allow Energy Twister to be cast without animation like it works on console. Problematic thing is the erratic behavior of the fire twisters. You’d need Ranslor’s as well, to pull in stuff. Nasty problem with that is that Ranslor doesn’t pull elites. They really made it freaking annoying.
Firebird is a frustrating set to play. At least my opinion.
It would have been excellent if fire Hydras worked with it, but nope - even IF pets worked again (thanks for destroying Mirrorbird, btw.) then only the unruned Hydra could trigger Firebird and the power would have a lot of room for improvement.
On a side note, the Magic Missile crucible power was working more or less well, albeit a bit underpowered. But since they didn’t bother to add it to Mirrorball (where it would be ideal) we’re back to Spectral Blade. Heck, if Spectral Blade had at least nice items. Where is our Omnislash?
Let’s not forget to mention Explosive Blast… god damn, this thing would have so much potential, yet it’s totally castrated by design. Just grant Chain Reaction and Short Fuse on Orb of Infinite Depth, allow Wand of Woh extra procs to trigger Firebird and finally add “Explosive Blast also detonates on burning targets and deals XXX% more damage.” as a new legendary power on “Mark of the Magi” or “Broken Staff”… just do something.
And by the way, bring back Mirror Images!
