Some classes are just popular. Wizard for one, because people dig wizards from a fantasy perspective and don’t really care if necros are stronger or not. Sheer popularity:

Wizard > necro
Barb > crusader
DH > monk
WD < unwanted redheaded step child

Some of it is just popularity, yeah.

But, there is not much that is more popular than doing a whole crapload of damage!

My guess, it might have something to do with players’ preferences. In S23 we had:

  • Reworked Firebird, so naturally a lot of people were curious how high they can go there, especially after all these crazy PTR videos with GR 150 solo clears.
  • “Reworked” Rathma, which might have caused at least some players who preferred this particular set to ditch Necro entirely and jump the FB hype train, rather than joining the ranks of the Bonespear Legion.

We look at the numbers, but we often forget that there are real people behind them, and they all have their own tastes, preferences, and sometimes idiosyncrasies as well.
