The low probability of finding an Orek’s dream is disappointing, and rather stupid in my opinion. Either make it a meaningful thing for everyone or just get rid of it. In fact, the premise is quite stupid. The patch notes could have said: Here’s a GR that all the streamers will love! Literally, none of the rest of us care or would have even noticed.
The patch notes list two GR types removed, which doesn’t seem to include Corvus (sp?) but I have not yet seen one, so hooray for that if intentional. I cannot fathom why Keeps would be left in, as it is much worse than sewers in my experience.
If I had one suggestion, it would be to tune up the GRs. Give more experience from all GR levels, but also increase the difficulty overall. Smoothing out the game play is great, but if it’s just going to result in more leaderboards full of 150 GR clears, then I think you’re doing the game a disservice.
This is interesting. I don’t remember seeing a corvus either in the recent on PTR. Fantastic if it really was stealth removed.
How do you think there will be more 150 clears? There’s no power creep at all next season. In fact, there will be a lot less 150 clears across the board than the past 6 seasons due to the fact that you’ll need to be 8k+ paragon to even have the damage necessary to attempt for most classes.
This is a good thing though IMO. Reaching 150 very fast and time attacking most of the season is really bad for the game and shortens the seasons life significantly, as shown by the current season.
By smoothing out and simplifying the GR running and fishing experience. I assume the main purpose of all these GR changes is to make them all more efficient, which I see as a form of inverted power creep. Combined with the exp blasting in Echoing Nightmare, we’ll see the boost in a different way than we’re used to in the form of a much higher average paragon across all players.
In case it wasn’t clear, I totally agree with you, I think reaching 150 should be very difficult or impossible, considering that it is the maximum.
It’s possible that it’s still in the pool but that its probability of spawning is super low. An inverse Orek’s Dream. An Orek’s Nightmare, if you will.
But the same question remains: why not do the same to Keeps?
I see. The players that were getting insane clears before will still see that same ceiling, because they were already keying in thousands of attempts to get the starts to align. For those players, it just means spending a lot less time to do basically the same thing.
What it does though is that it allows more players that didn’t like spending the time to fish or waste that many keys to now consider competing on the leaderboard at that level. You should see more competition as the barrier of entry for the top of the leaderboards (RNG) has been lifted significantly.
Also, there’s a bit of an overexaggeration for the XP gained in echoing in general. Yes, it is a lot, but we have to remember that these keys will be rare, unlike PTR where we get them from bags and able to do these over and over, as well as there’s no 8 to 10 GR+ power creep boost from a seasonal theme either to farm GR’s. What blizzard did was basically allow us to paragon effectively similar to previous seasons with echoing, without the power creep necessary or very specific group meta comp (Rats) to do so.
This is probably the case. I haven’t seen many cave maps either, but lots of fields of misery.
Even if you spend thousand keys, you’re not getting the PERFECT rift. You can always get better pylon placement, better elite affixes, higher elite density around the condy, better mob typ on floor 2, etc etc. Not to mention that mortal people may need a couple tries to perfectly execute once you found a very good key. I think S26 1000 keys will still allow you to push higher than 100 keys, but maybe not as much higher as it used to? Will be interesting to see what happens.
I have to remember that my wording can be taken quite literal at times Replace “same ceiling” with similar.
It is possible to see a bump of a few GR’s or so at the very best, but no where near the claims of seeing more 150’s next season than before that I’m hearing/reading about. Usually around this time of a PTR, we’d be seeing 150’s all over the place. In current PTR, no one is even close with the GR QoL’s.
