As someone who has played Bliz games since Vanilla WoW and Diablo 1 were in their infancy, and liked them enough to start a new account after my original account got jacked and couldn’t be recovered and started all over again, I’m disappointed with the changes introduced in PTR and wondering just how many of these devs actually play the games they create.
There’s some QoL things I’d really appreciate because they add to the time I can spend actually playing the game:
- Pets pick up gold and trash items to turn into mats for you
- Chasing globes for progress in rifts is annoying - couldn’t they at least drop where the elite died?
- a way to mass salvage all items not ancient at the blacksmith
- when rolling for upgrades in the cube a way to just automate it to go until you run out of mats or you get an upgrade
- at the end of a GR click one button to use all chances to upgrade your gem
- when the portals end instead of dumping you in town, put you back where you were so you can go back to what/where you were doing things
In regard to paragon, I think the cap is a fine idea for a SSF mode (one which came way to late to be truly relevant), but for those of us who like to play something other than Trag or Tals build, making the cap 800 means that with actual upgrade drop rates being dismal, getting the perfect gear isn’t likely and without the boost from paragon rewards for grinding and busting our butts, we’re capped at 120-130 solo rifting.
I like the portal madness - I think it’s fun to have them pop up and to take them wherever they might lead. I even like the affixes that create a somewhat randomized challenge to them. This is an idea that somewhat came from WoW and their Heroic+ dungeons (although these affixes were specifically assigned to specific dungeons).
For those who would mock my input, not everyone has the time to grind for hours and hours and spend even more time “in town” sorting through junk. Some of us have played Bliz games for a very long time and have continued to do so as adults with limited time - I’d venture to say a significant portion of the player base is this group. I play to have fun with friends, feel like I accomplished something, and kill pixels. Things that add to this make me happy. Things that detract from this make me annoyed and bored.
Bliz and their games are no longer one of the only ones out there offering up gameplay to those of us who look for the social aspect, the feeling of accomplishment, and an opportunity to kill pixels. They now have competitors who make it their business to offer gameplay to players that seeks to outdo Bliz.
If Bliz Devs are not interested in making QoL changes to Diablo, it would be great if they would allow the community of gamers to do so like they have in other games to create better HUDs, UIs, ways of organizing information and data in a RT and clear way to be able to make better decisions more quickly so we can spend more time playing and less time sorting through things.
